INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Indianapolis Colts receiver Reggie Wayne plans to play a 15th and final NFL season this fall.

But the question remains: Where will he play?

Wayne is not saying yet, but he said several teams have called about his services.

"It's something I'm excited about," said Wayne, who received a key to the city of Indianapolis from Mayor Greg Ballard during a luncheon Friday afternoon. "I really am. I guess in due time we'll figure out where it is."

Wayne wanted his final season to be with the franchise he spent his entire career with, but that opportunity never came, as the Colts announced on March 6 that they would not be re-signing the veteran.

When asked why he wants to play one more season, Wayne said, "I want to finish how I know I can finish."

Wayne had his worst season since 2002 last season, totaling 64 receptions for 779 yards and two touchdowns while dealing with an elbow injury and torn triceps in the second half of the season.

Wayne had surgery on his torn triceps in the offseason, and he said he's focusing on getting "as healthy as he possibly can."

"It's weird 'cause this is one of my best years as far as being in the best shape that I've been in a while," Wayne said. "It's coming along great."

Wayne finished his Indianapolis career with 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns.

Thats what his mind is telling him. Like the Will to Live, the absolute refusal to die that is inherent in humans athletes will entertain Delusions as a reason to go on too long.

With that said I hope he plays and I hope he plays for New England or New Orleans.

Would not surprise me. He could never come back to Indy if signed with Patriots.

Are you telling me if Reggie Wayne signed with the Patriots, he would be an outcast and never allowed back to Indy? The guy who stayed after your team went 1-15? Who could of went to any team, the guy who did everything right on and off the field, you colt 'fans' would crucify the guy because the colts didn't want him anymore and he went to The Patriots, a better team?

2-14. Get it right. It was suck for Luck once Manning was done. Even a quiet fear that Manning would come back for 2 games just to insure the Colts would not get the top pick.

And yes, Colts fans would crucify him without thinking twice. I wouldn't but some would. Andre Johnson is basically taking his role except with more physical talent. At the end of the day, it is prob. 50/50 as to who is more likely to stay healthier.
