Everyone I know is saying oregon because of their offense,,and because ohio state has a 3rd string qb..

when I say this 3rd string qb looks like a nfl tight end that beat wisconsin 59-0,,and just beat alabama it does not compute..

and before that, the 2nd string qb for ohio st beat michigan st..

looking at oregons one loss to arizona

arizona beat oregon with an end of season stat of 72nd nationally ranked run defense and 118th passing yards allowed

ohio st is 34th nationally ranked run defense and 16th in passing yards allowed

focusing only on offense reminds me of all the love for peyton manning and the denver offense in the superbowl

Keep in mind that Oregon was missing their two top offensive lineman for that game and came within a late flag of winning that game. In the rematch the game was over in the 1st quarter. Since the offensive line has returned to full strength they've won 9 in a row covering the number each time. Not trying to persuade you to take Oregon, as I like Ohio st +6 as well, just wanted to point out that fact. Personally im playing the over 74 because I don't think either defense can stop the offense. I think the game boils down to who turns the ball over less. That's the winner

forget line moves as a major factor, unless its a few points . in fact if you look closely at the bowls the lines that dropped most dogs won!!

ok let me rephrase,, people that i know that may or may not be into gambling on sports have all said oregon when i ask them who are they picking.. even random people that i sort of know or just met, are picking oregon when i ask.... in my very small sample size it shows the perception that oregon is unstoppable on offense and ohio state is down to a perceived incapable 3rd string qb...... trying to briefly explain the positives about ohio state still leads back to oregons incredible offense comments,, and thus very similar scenario happened with all the love i was hearing for manning and the denver offense in the sb..just sayin

im not saying ohio states defense is like the seahawks,,,but they do have great defensive stats and have played good opponents that can score alot as well..

Total Offense - Oregon #3 (552.9 ypg) - Ohio St #9 (509.7 ypg)

Total Defense - Ohio St #17 (333.6 ypg) - Oregon #84 (421.9 ypg)
Scoring Defense - Ohio St #26 (22.1 ppg) - Oregon #27 (22.3 ppg)

Net Punting - Ohio St #5 (41.78 ypp) - Oregon #77 (36.66 ypp)

russ I agree about 60% will be on Oregon is my guess an at 6 1/2 many will play them. os with a 3rd string qb cannot be expected to win this one. bama has problems beating auburn who was good but far from the top. ole miss who was pulverized by tcu beat bama. so the ducks look definitely a winner with most people for sure.

It's definitely one of the more interesting NC matchups that I've seen in recent history. It will be interesting to see if Oregon can overcome their very average defensive stats. I have seen it done before. Okie State a couple years ago had some very similar defensive stats to Oregon and were able to overcome them and defeat Andrew Luck and Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl. But it wasn't easy, and Stanford still covered that game. I can possibly see a similar scenerio here.

I think this game reminds me of the Ohio State vs Florida game several years back where Florida was an underdog. Heavy one i believe. Ohio State had a high powered offensive track team. You know what happened in that game.

Not sure where you are headed wit that analysis but, yes, we do know. OSU lost their most potent offensive weapon after a fluke celebration injury on the game's first play. The underdog won outright - coached by Urban Meyer.

One coach in that game completely outfoxed the other cause if you look back at the talent there were probaby 10 Pros on both teams. Urban won't pull a Tressel here and have his team unprepared. BTW, I like Tressel but he was a mediocre in game coach.
