Box, do you smoke the books nearly every year in the college bases?
Not smoke them, but I've always made money. But this year more so in particular because this is their first year laying it out game by game in the regionals.
In the past the only bets they had was who will win the regional and they laid it out like this:
Cal State Fullerton -600
Arizona +250
TCU +600
#4 Seed +1200
In this instance I would make a small play on a solid 2 seed like Arizona.
Then in Univ of Miami regional theyd lay it out
Miami -300
Florida +125
FAU -500
Stetson -1000
And Miami eliminates Florida the past 3 postseasons, and I'd load up on Miami.
But when they lay it out game by game and it's cal state fullerton head to head vs. the #4 seed and they are -250, I cant help but put my whole account on it.
And when the Yankees play with Randy Johnson they are -250, and anything can happen in the MLB because everyone in the MLB has the talent to be a big leaguer, but in college these small schools stand no chance.
There are also things the books dont know about tight matchups, postseaosn mystiques of teams and college pitching matchups, rotations etc, we'll exploit those later. But theres no need to play any other games when we have such a lock of a bet. We'll eventually start playing some more even matches and kick more ass with a few more dog picks.
You've seen it today with LSU, Cal State, and Stanford. No matter how good or bad these teams play, they have been in the late inning close game postseason situation every year, and they know how to handle it and they always win. These other teams don't.
It's not an accident or luck that Cal State won late. They know how to win, and Missouri doesnt.
