Sports Ill did an article a couple of years ago stating that Tiger would be the first billionaire athlete. And from what I've read he doesn't blow a lot of money either.

i had a former girlfriend about six years ago, who is an excellent golfer and avid fan. her take on tiger's endorsements at that time (i think he had just the nike deal then), was since he has all this other money, it takes pressure off him to win. i agree. can't argue with his talents and accomplishments, but he can focus on just certain tournaments (like he says, the majors). and by the way, in my opinion, the pressure sunday wasn't on tiger. it was on demarco. demarco needed a major more than tiger.

certainly their isnt any financial pressure on tiger to play well , but i still think their is a huge ammount of other types...

like living up to his own legacy at this point. like silencing all the critics about swing changes and will they work. like getting back to trying to catch jack's 18 majors.

the guy wants to dominate and their is always pressure to try and do that.

their is also some pressure in not blowing leads.

i think he has the same mindset as jordan.

Have to disagree, Tiger likes to win as well just for competition sakes. From what I hear, he is very competitive hence his emotionally outburst when making a mistake on the golf course.

Forbes listed Michael Schumaker as the biggest earner last year at $83 mill and Tiger second at $80 mill. So if his tour earning were around $7 mill then the rest is endorsements. Of course that goes up every year and his Nike deal is $25 mill alone in 2005.

pga tour earnings were around 7 mil.. the dude gets 2 or 3 million for showing up overseas... i'll bet his actual on the course earnings exceded 20 million last year.

Maybe so, but it's all about golf. Other guys have to win or they go home without getting paid. He has a huge advantage.

If he really wanted to make more cash he'd do all of the 'silly season' stuff and play more overseas than he does now.It's about winning to the elite players... Hogan, Nicklaus, Jordan, etc. They had a desire to dominate their competition because they hated to lose. What separates Tiger from Phil is you don't see Tiger saying 'wow, I played well and being second ain't that bad' like Phil's done a couple of times.

i'm sure being a gazillionaire doesnt hurt , but understand this , 176 guys made over $ 250,000 on the pga tour last year.

their isnt anybody out there thats hurting all that bad...

1/2 of all the exempt players made over $ 1,000,000 ...

very few of them are worrying about the money..
