if this guy lives in chicago, he'll NEVER hear the end of it should they lose tomorrow. if he worked where i work, he might get fired.

if i was him, i'd move to like iowa or something.

They keep saying kid but he looks like he's in his late 20's.

He had his headphones on. Imagine hearing the announcer call you an idiot during the game.

thank you Brock, that and the fact that Alou was totally wiggin out after the play, the play was over Alou, your up by a couple of runs, chill the fvck out refocus and win the game.

Cubs didn't get it done, watching a close game 7 sure is going to be alot of fun.

For the sake of the fan, I hope they win it, although as a Cardinal fan it would be pretty funny if they didn't.

Brock and Clay, my very first post was a gut reaction, but I agree with you completely.

More importantly than ESPN.com, yahoo put the picture of the guy up in its site. Not too many people check out espn.com, but everyone looks at yahoo

But, if I may add, I hope Gonzalez doesn't end up a wasted junkie like Leon Durham should the Cubs lose it tommorrow.

These guys on the field right now, especially the Cubs and Sox, are all potential Donnie Moore's. Buckner handled it pretty well all things considered, others obviously did not.

This isn't the first time a fan at Wrigley interfered with a play. During one of the first playoff games this year a ball went into the first row near home plate and a fan muffed the catch. In that case though it was clearly in the stands but the fan could have let the Cubs player catch the ball for an out.

yup , I remember that big game, I think it was the first game against the Fish, if I remember correctly, at the time I said, "you know that could end up costing a team a game", hmm , sounds prophetic now just a tad.

From ESPN:

quote:
Ballpark guards escorted the man, who was wearing a Cubs hat, from his seat along the low outfield wall and into a security office as the game ended. He covered his face with a sweater as he walked past fans who pelted him with cups of beer and shouted obscenities. Some chanted "kill him."

Jim Cuthbert, 33, said he was sitting about 15 to 20 rows behind the fan and was kicked out after approaching to berate him.

"My wife was hanging on to my arm. I was going nuts. That idiot. We were five outs away," Cuthbert said.

...at least he could have caught the ball, eh?

so who was stupider, the guy who tried to catch the souvenir ball, or the ignorant chicago fans that think he was the reason they cost him the game and threatened and assaulted him.
Alex Gonzalez (Cubs) didn't get a beer shower did he.
Dusty didn't get one for his poor choice of Farnsworth to add salt to the wound.
Didn't see any death threats to Mark Prior for running out of gas.

I agree with that. You should just laugh that stuff off and move on; instead everyone fixates on it and what do you know...it's the stuff a curse is made of.

I saw Bonds go for a similar ball this year and he just gave the guy who mauled him for it a quick look and walked off. I was impressed that he didn't really give a a shit and the announcers even suggested that a ball going into the stands in foul territory is fair game. It was Pac Bell park.
