ESPN Bet went live today in 17 states. $1000 match sign up at 5% withdrawal rate. You have to wager $20K in action to convert it all to cash. Compare this Caesars in New York when they offered a $5000 risk free bet. You wagered $5000 if you lost they reimbursed $5000 and you only had to roll it over once. Look, the Caesars promo was crazy. It was worth $2500 at a minimum. The US online books have learned their lesson. I had expected more from ESPN Bet as they were late to the scene. ESPN Bet is actually a rebranding of Barstool Sports. There was enormous money made in bonuses by extended families when these online books were offering gigantic sign-up promos. The books knew they were taken advantage of by these extended families. DK is still digging out from the cost of acquiring players. Still remember when Sugarhouse now Bet Rivers was offering boosts that were 100% overlays and they were taking hundreds on them. You could give a phone to an 8 year old to pick a side and he couldn't lose.

Does anyone know if you were already a barstool customer if you still qualify for the new customer stuff for ESPN?

Everything is vague on the website except the $1000 match. If they do give you 4 $50 free bets for any initial size bet and if you win the $50 bet and they don't make you playing through 20x to cash out then it is a decent promo. I'm going to wait to see from other players if they actually give you 4 $50 bets and if you win what the withdrawal requirements are before I sign up.

Here is an issue. Let's say you deposit $100. they automatically match it to $200 as you don't have to opt-in. It contradicts the other promo. I don't want my money locked up. I just want the free 4 $50 free bets. If you can figure all this out you have to be a rocket scientist.

So I signed up. Made a small $20 deposit and got 4 $50 free bets. Not risking anything so will see what happens if I win any of the $50 bets and try to withdraw. There are also bonus codes around that will get you an additional $50 free bet after your initial bet is settled. If that's all I have to do get 5 $50 free bets then it is a great deal. They went live in 17 states so if you live in one and want to give it a shot it's probably worth it. You can deposit as little as $5 and get the $50 bets. Bet the $5 and get another $50 with the promo code. You have to enter the promo code when you sign up to get the additional $50 bet.

If it works out then I take back what I said. I wouldn't get involved with the $1000 promo due to the rollover requirements.
