Howard Morris (1919-2005)
howard_tvland_awards_blankbg.jpg

Dear friends,
I have extremely sad news to report of my dear father, Howard, who suddenly passed away this afternoon (May 21, 2005).

He was without a doubt the most amazing father.

In show business, Howard Morris "the star" was one in a trillion, a true genius, and an entertainment dynamo. So many "greats" in this business followed his career with incredible admiration and respect. I for one am one of his biggest fans!

The Andy Griffith Show became a major part of my father's life. He appeared in only five episodes. Regardless, he made a permanent impression on so many people, and was always amazed by and grateful for all of the love and support his fans gave to him.

I shared with Howard every bit of mail that came in, so I know firsthand how important your cards, emails, and gifts were to him over the years.

All I can really say now is that I miss him beyond words.

Thank you for being there! Sincerely,
David Morris

In the crazyness that is the world of the Internet I wanted to share this surreal moment with you guys.....I have always been a fan of the Mayberry life and wish it would remain so for us all - but the times are against us.

Around 2 AM EST I was chatting with Wilheim and told him that I was going to register as a Ghost poster named Ernest T Bass just becuz - lately in the boring dolldrums of baseball and the "who really gives a shite" part of the NBA playoffs, I thought some light heartedness would be fun...then I went Googling for a pix of ETB and found the sad news.

He made me smile in the worst times of my life...along with the Kramdens.....

God Bless The Morris Family....Part of You lives in me, Glaken

Wonderful

Wonderful character and wonderful show. It sobers one to realize that such great folks are leaving us. This reminds me of how I felt when Jimmy Stewart passed away in July, 1997. tulsa

No coffee, tea or punch please, Mrs. Wiley

Loved old Ernest T. on the old Griffith shows. Always thought he must have been an incredible athlete to jump around like that and not get hurt!

"...the more your talkin' the more I'm balkin'"

His confrontations with Barney Fife were hilarious and when he tried to join the Army.

Sherman, I'm not kidding: it is one of the best shows ever. I'm talking about the ones before color and before Don Knotts (Barney Fife) left. After Mr. Knotts left the show wasn't so good at all.

One of the top shows of all time. I believe it is still funny and moving today. And, Ernest T Bass was one of the all time best on that show. tulsa

Sherman, If you ever get a chance and your at Blockbuster there is a video of all five shows with Ernest T. ..... Just ask for the Andy Griffith shows.

Ole Ernest T. was a nut......
