Eric Gagne saves 72nd straight - Anyone ever been better?

Despite giving up a hit Gagne picked up his 72nd consecutive save tonight (10 this year). The Dodgers beat the Pirates 4-3 behind a 3 run homer from Shawn Green - Hideo Nomo picked up his 4th win of the season.

The guy is good, no doubt about it. I have seen a few performances that I thought he was shaky, but the numbers tell the story. BTW, Nomo didn't pick up the win, Mota did. Wonder when the streak will end.

Did anyone see Sundays game? Tracy brought in every middle relief scrub to blow a 5 run lead in the 8th. Why wouldn't you bring in Gagne in that situation instead of having your other scrubs walk in 4 runs and allow 5 without a ball leaving the infield?

Gagne is tough granted. Regular season wise maybe the best ever. If they get to the playoffs we'll see if he is as good as Rivera.
