NY Yankees -1 1/2 (+116) (4 units)....Don't look now, kids, but the Yankees have won 4 straight and will be breathing down the necks of Balt and Bos within the next 2 weeks. Moyer has been hit hard his last two starts and it could be a short afternoon for him. Pavano has been inconsistant, but Sea is not hitting at all in the last 10, losing 9 of those games. The only bright spot has been the bullpen, but if they start getting overworked, the aquisitions of Sexson and Beltre could go for naught. Look for a good solid outing out of Pavano. You knew the Yanks would start winning sooner or later, and the answer is sooner.
Philadelphia -101 (2 units)...Rubber game for these squads. Lidle seems to be in little better form than Davis, and also seems to pitch better away from Philly (understandable). Brewers are hitting better right now, but Philly should be able to get good swings vs. Davis if they are patient. Davis is prone to bases on balls and Homeruns. Brewers have slight bullpen edge, but both have been suspect of late.
LA Dodgers +129 (2 units)...This must be a nice spot for me to fade the Cards. And sure enough, it is. Rare situation were you get the doggie with the better SP and better bullpen. Injuries are really depleting the Cards. Rolen went down last night, to go along with the bullpen injuries/struggles. Suppan will need a quality start, but a few of the current LA lineup has some impressive avg's (Drew,Kent,Ledee) vs. Suppan. I don't believe the Dodgers will "be there" in the West when all is said and done, but this is an awfully nice spot tonight.
Baltimore +144 (1 unit)...Feels funny taking Ponson over Johan. But, Ponson has pitched about as well as Santana the past couple weeks. I like home doggies, and I think this one's got a shot. Balt's got the bigger bats, and quite a few guys in the Balt lineup have decent BA's vs. Santana lifetime (Don't be surprised to see a few bench guys start for Balt). Minny hasn't hit much in this series. Caution: if this one is close late, Minny has a much better bullpen. Small play for me.
