St Louis -1 1/2 (+120) (3 units)...2 pitchers who have made me money this season, for entirely different reasons (Redding and Marquis). St Louis' bullpen still scares me a little playing the run line, but STL should have plenty 'o' runs by the time Ray King toes the rubber. Feel we get value here because San Diego has beated STL three straight, among other reasons (STL bullpen woes, SD has won 8 of 10) Would be 4 units if played on the ML, but -168 is not my cup of tea. For a game to be "a play" for me, it's a game I believe wins by 3 or 4 runs, so +120 is what I play.
Minnesota -125 (3 units)..Tampa has been flattened the last two vs. the Twins after their series win over the Yanks. Of course Lohse and some guy named Johan have had much to do with this. Today it''s Joe Mays, who has struggled vs. TB in his career. But, that team turns over so much, it's usually a new group of guys every year. Waechter has struggled even more at home. His ERA is over 7.00 the past 2 yrs. This guy is a spot starter/long reliever at best, which means we will see the TB bulpen in the 5th or 6th. Good news for us if Mays struggles and it goes to the pens, where the Twinkies are much superior. Twins are quietly playing over .600 baseball.
ChiSox/Toronto UNDER 8 1/2 (-115) (2 units)...After a day that belong to the bats, even Garland got hit hard, it's back to the pitchers for this matchup. Unfamiliarity breeds confusion, imo, and the Sox bats could be baffled by Chacin. I also look for Buehrle to get back on track after a couple subpar outings. Koskie and Wells give him problems, so those will be his BIG matchups. Until yesterday, these teams have played UNDER 6 in a row.
