lol, there goes my cheap eggs...

A recent egg advert was banned by the UKs liberal lifestyle nazis as well...

I wonder how long it will be before globul warming goes the same way as the egg scam.

Eggs are packed full of nutrients

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->
Limiting egg consumption has little effect on cholesterol levels, research has confirmed.
A University of Surrey team said their work suggested most people could eat as many eggs as they wanted without damaging their health.
The researchers, who analysed several studies of egg nutrition, said the idea that eating more than three eggs a week was bad for you was still widespread.
But they said that was a misconception based on out-of-date evidence. <!-- E SF -->

There is cholesterol present in eggs but this does not usually make a great contribution to your level of blood cholesterol

Victoria Taylor
British Heart Foundation

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IBOX -->Writing in the British Nutrition Foundation's Nutrition Bulletin, they said eating saturated fats was far more likely to cause health problems.
Researcher Professor Bruce Griffin said eggs were actually a key part of a healthy diet, as they were particularly packed full of nutrients.
Ingrained misconception
He said: "The ingrained misconception linking egg consumption to high blood cholesterol and heart disease must be corrected.
"The amount of saturated fat in our diet exerts an effect on blood cholesterol that is several times greater than the relatively small amounts of dietary cholesterol.
"The UK public do not need to be limiting the number of eggs they eat - indeed they can be encouraged to include them in a healthy diet as they are one of nature's most nutritionally dense foods."
While elevated blood cholesterol levels increase the risk of heart disease, only around a third of the cholesterol in the body comes from the diet.
Other factors such as smoking, being overweight and physical activity can influence blood fat and cholesterol levels and heart disease risk.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) dropped its advice to limit egg consumption to three a week in 2007 in light of new evidence.
However, research by the British Egg Information Service suggests 45% of consumers still believe it was sensible to limit consumption.
Victoria Taylor, a senior BHF dietician, said: "We recommend that eggs can be eaten as part of a balanced diet. "There is cholesterol present in eggs but this does not usually make a great contribution to your level of blood cholesterol. "If you need to reduce your cholesterol level it is more important that you cut down on the amount of saturated fat in your diet from foods like fatty meat, full fat dairy products and cakes, biscuits and pastries."

Somebody sez "its bad!"

The whole low fat scam has created a generation of obese diabetics with heart disease.

:ohno:

I'm glad I took the time to educate myself on nutrition and diet. The truth is a real eye opener.

eating lots of meat and eggs (fat) in your overall diet on the other hand is bad for you

that's why us white boy westerners have more heart problems, cancer problems etc... vs. the asians and shit that eat lots of fruits and veggies

tiz really has cut back alot on his meat consumption over the years and ramped up his veggie/fruit consumption

plus meat in general is a waste of resources

don't get me wrong i like a steak here or there but....

eggs are cheap concentrated energy and nutrients when compared to meat...

america's whole food setup is just fucked up

you go to most 3rd world countries and fruits and veggies are cheap while eating at mcdonalds is a luxury

in the states its the complete opposite

now that economy going to shit mcdonalds holding up well cause its cheap

and to live off alot of fruits and veggies (that have less calories so you gotta eat alot of um) in the states is expensive as all hell

the whole structure of food in the US is backwards and promotes us to be fat unhealthy slobs

eating unhealthy is promoted over and over again via lower prices

while eating healthy costs you a ton

Eggs and meat are just fine in moderation...they are not bad for you. This has been proven wrong.

The real killers are sugar, corn and wheat in all their forms. That is what blows out your cholesterol numbers and feeds plaque buildup leading to heart disease or stroke.

Replace starches with veggies. Eat meat and eggs in moderation. Fruit that isn't too high in sugar. In general, don't eat prepared food.

Lose weight, reverse heart disease and watch your BP fall like a rock.

It works for everyone I know that tries it...like magic.

Everything they tell you is wrong...the food pyramid is a joke.

yeah meat and eggs in moderation is fine my point is the average american diet has too much meat in it

i agree with you on sugar and starch foods too

high fructose corn syrup that is in almost fucking everything these days is really bad for the american public at large

if your going to eat bread eat wheat though....eating white bread like drinking a can of coke

also a big thing is salt

just amazing when you look on the back of food packages and see how much salt there is in almost everything

tiz loves spicy shit and hot sauce looking at the back of hot sauce bottles is amazing now i only use tabasco (low in salt)

and of course tobasco sauce is expensive compared to the others

sometimes i think our food companies are getting some side funding from our medical companies so we get health problems and have to start undergoing treatment and popping pills

LOL

I eat at home almost all the time and i try to buy organic foods as much as possible, but its pricey. Imagine that, food in its natural state, costs more.

A lot of scams with organic Fletch...buyer beware.

I think it's a load of crap myself. There really isn't any oversight.

its probably somewhat of a scam in a whole foods type outlet in a big city i'll admit that

but i know many iowan farmers take pride in producing organic products and supplying local organic stores

there is an organic certification process....it actually is a pain in the ass to do it

takes like a year or two (cultivating the soil and all that sort of shit) to convert from conventional to organic so your products can be certified organic...

the main thing with organic is that it has all the natural healthy nutrients vs. the mass produced chemically enhanced veggies and fruits

think of regular run of a mill fruits and veggies as being on steroids

people that are on roids tend to not be less healthy

i'm not saying regular run of the mill fruits and veggies are unhealthy

just saying they are stripped of alot of the good stuff

also another example is eggs

who do you think are gonna produce healthier eggs?

a chicken confined in a little stall eating low quality non nutricous feed

or free range happy chickens eating a natural diet...

just kinda common sense the happy chickens will produce healthier eggs

I agree, the oversight is sketchy, but no preservatives is the key. And the milk isn't loaded with all the shit that you normally get in regular milk. The biggest factor in my buying is trying to buy locally, with oil eventually going back up and just the need for more consumer control, locally is going to be the way to go.

#1 thing I try is to buy local, even over organic. As mentioned lotta organic scams.

Going to a farmers market you can deal direct and get to know where your food is coming from. Some great deals to when you cut out the middle man

Under no circumstance will I eat anything from China

milk is a huge scam

especially when you are talking about the hormone hopped up run of the mill milk

eat lots of spinach and green veggies has plenty of calcium

humans weren't really "programmed" by mother nature to consume dairy

reason so many people are lactose intolerant

like calves drinking milk as a kid probably okay but i'd only give him the organic stuff not the hormone hopped up stuff

once the calves grow up they eat veggies they no longer drink milk....

go soy if you want milk type stuff

i got completely off cheese not too long ago...horrible for you...worse than milk

Monsanto's growth hormone RBGH is used to increase the milk supply and this causes significantly increased levels of another growth hormone called IGF-1. I just doubt long term that is good. Just like Monsanto's chemically engineered round up seeds that are straight poison. Big Ag to me is just not smart. Unless your talking fruit form a place like Honduras in the winter up here in the north, ill stay local. However, i hear of these new greenhouse buildings over in Japan, it would be stellar to do that here. At least i think its Japan, i seen it on the science channel a few weeks back.
