Going to a buddy's house tonight and plan to take him a bottle of Scotch as a gift.

I have been trying different Scotch's over the last month and trying to not spend too much the nicest I have had to date was a 15 year Glenlivet which was great.

The Glenfiddich was a little on the oakey side but a good flavor and the Macallen was flat out lame in the 10, 12, and 15.

I would like to take something not so main stream but really good AND not to pricey ($30-$40 a bottle is my range)...

Thoughts?

I'll have a scotch on the rocks, please. Any scotch will do, as long as it's not a blend, of course. Single malt, Glen Livet, Glen Galley, perhaps, any glen.

Glennfiddich is my personal favorite. Technically, it's a single malt as well (it does have some malt blending but since it all comes from the same destillery it still falls under single malt status). Glennfiddich is the worlds most popular scotch, so that might not be what you are looking for. Whatever you take, make it a single malt. The Scotts drink Glenmorangie.

I love poetry, and a glass of scotch, and, of course, my friend Baxter here.

Try "Singleton". I had it about 6 months ago and have been hooked. It's a single malt, 12 year. Runs about $37.00. I was told it won best Scotch a couple years ago in California, but is still a little unknown. It is a winner.

I will try this..thanks for the tip.

I only drink brown liquor, Crown and Scotch..My personal favorite for everyday drinking is Glenlivet 12. This will fit into your parameters..enjoy..

My Father-in-law brought an 18 year old bottle of Macallan's to me for his stay here in the states. It's damned good.
