The second best switch hitter of all time EDDIE MURRAY
enters Hall of Fame today...Murray along with Gary 'The Kid'Carter are the latest inductees.....
Murray joined Baltimore in 1977 going on to win Rookie of The Year honors....He was the leader of Baltimore`s great teams of the late 70`s and early 80`s, the crowning moment came in 1983, when in Game 5 Murray launched two long Home runs in the clinching 5th game ....
Murray`s career highlights include 3255 hits and 504 homeruns, only Willie Mays and Hank Aaron have reached these two majestic baseball milestones, he is also 2nd all-time in career grand slams.....Murray played his prime in the dead ball(70`s-80-s) era, when parks were large and steroids were not in style...Pitchers could still pitch and the talent level wasn`t watered down...
He was one of the games greatest clutch hitters, and as savvy a ballplayer as you will ever find....When the game was on the line Murray thrived , he was the alltime leader in game winning RBI`s when it was kept as a statistic...Also winning 3 gold gloves....
The one irony was Eddie Murray never won the AL MVP, although he finished in the top 2 or 3 several times....
Hall of Famer, playing first base and switch hitting, #33 EDDIE MURRAY
