love when this guy does the game, cuz you know HE'S IN CHARGE, and he will explain whatever needs to be explained...

Announcers just made a mocking comment about his explanation taking too much time, but it was a weird play, where a mistake was made by clock operator, and he explained EXACTLY what happened, and how to fix it....

I like a ref like that, dont have to worry about shady stuff going on.....

Agree. He has always been one of the best. Its too bad his career was almost defined by one mistake.

I dont look at a guys mistakes. I look at how he handles them after the fact. Ed was nothing but class after that bad call in Denver.

He is in top 3 for sure but he was a bit much today late in game giving 5 minute explanation on why clock needed to be reset. Alls he needed to say was "Please set playclock to 1:24...thank you" Fans eventually would have understood that flags were unintentional or meaningless.

guess you guys missed the sd/denver game from a couple years ago.

also, best ref in the nfl is certainly an oxymoron.

Nobody missed it. it was even mentioned earlier in this very thread. He is still the best in the game. And no its not an oxymoron. He gets a vast majority of calls right. Does he get 100%, no. But come on these guys are calling a game that is being played by absolutly freakish athletes. 300 lb lineman can run faster than most guys with a normal build in their 20's. Ed does a great job. Especially when you consider he will be 60 years old in a few months
