wtf is wrong with putting your bread or eggs in the seat? Are your eggs in a carton? Is your bread in a plastic bag?

You are way too extreme.

i was a grocery store manger for 12 years and seen more than my share of babyshit in those seats.just because the bread etc is in a package don't mean it can't get shit on it(even if it is only the package)

and i eat out about 10 meals per week,i am just careful and loyal to the places that go.outback for dinner 4 nights a week and wendy's everyday for lunch.go to the same ones and they know me by name (and of course by face)

This thread may help some lose weight as it turns out....personally going to skip lunch today...

I'm way too lazy , I use to cook all the time, I got into the bad habit of eating out, lunch and dinner, it gets expensive too....And not to mention almost everything there is to eat is unhealthy in some way.

Here is something really gross for you germaphobes:

My first job was working in a restaurant as a sandwich maker. One of the cooks was showing me how to make what he called "clean fingernail cole slaw". I was like "why do you call it that?" Here is how he showed me. He dumped a jug of cole slaw dressing into a big bowl of cut up cabbage and carrots etc. He proceeded to mix the slaw dressing together with his bare hands. He had to really work it to get the dressing mixed in thoroughly. When he was finished he washed his hands off and showed me his fingers for inspection. "See", he said "everytime you are done you will have the cleanest fingernails ever".

He was right too. His fingernails were exceptionally clean when he was done.

I think it also depends on the person. I came from another country and over there nobody gave a fuck what they ate because their body's are used to all the germs and will not even get them sick. But now since I have been living in the united states and all the warnings we get how this and this will get you sick makes me think about what I eat. When I go back to my country to visit some of the things that I see now make me sick but back then did not bother me at all.

disclaimer:
no disrespect to you in no way!

this is one of the biggest arguments people against illegal aliens have had! they claim that illegals coming from other countries bring their bad hygiene habits with them and that is why we have had so many food bourne illnesses break out in th usa in the last 4 or so years.i see the logic behind this, but each employer should be sure to teach these people good hygiene

Yes, they do when they make your sandwich. But are you there when they slice the tomatoes, open the pack of ham, refill the condiments, make the tuna salad, etc? :smoking:

Your right, when i worked at subway they never had us wear gloves when we prepped food. I never remember wearing gloves off hand.

Basically.

It all boils down to the locality. You can be in one town and its mandated that the workers have gloves and some you go to and its not required.

BTW, I was starving before I started reading this thread.

How about some places where the employees use the same restroom as customers. You go take a leak... no soap. The employee before you that took a dump, could have at most rinsed his hands with water, time to go !

I've seen Dunkin Donuts shops where there are flies around the donuts, you clearly see flies landing on the doughnuts.

Haha, youre a funny guy Joey.

And to think I missed this when you came to the nation's capital a few months ago.

Actually, I was going to go the catfish, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and some peach cobbler route then wash it down with some red kool aid.

Once talked with a Health Code fellow and asked him who the worst and best resturants were in regards to violations. Chinese were the worst and Italian the best.

Feb. 8, 2007 — Grocery store shopping cart handles have more germs than public restrooms, making them one of the worst public places for germs, according to researchers.

It's a problem that at least one state, Arkansas, is trying to address, by passing a law forcing stores to clean up their carts.

How germy could shopping carts really be? Very, according to researchers at the University of Arizona who tested all kinds of public surfaces. They found that shopping carts were loaded with more saliva, bacteria and even fecal matter than escalators, public telephones, and even public bathrooms.

The only surfaces that had more germs were playground equipment and bus rails.

The Arkansas law will push grocery stores to provide sanitation wipes at the door so customers don't have to wrap their hands around the last shopper's bacteria.

"When I was campaigning, many of my constituents brought it to my attention [that] many shopping carts could possibly have germs and contamination on them," Rep. Fred Allen, D-Ark., told "Good Morning America."

"Every kid in America teethes on shopping cart handles," said Dr. Chuck Gerba at the University of Arizona. "They don't have the best sanitary habits. … I mean, you're putting your broccoli where their butt was."

That's why Amanda Gutstadt always carries sanitizer when she shops with her son Max, especially during flu season.

Even a fifth-grader can detect the germs. Nicole Shaw's testing of shopping carts Wednesday night won her a spot in the North Carolina Regional Science Fair.

"When I found the E.coli, I thought it was pretty nasty," she said. "I am working on getting a patent on my shopping cart cleaning system."

Some supermarkets already offer wipes, but if yours does not, germ experts say the smartest thing to do is wash your hands and your child's hands after you leave.

Another option is to spring for a baby shopping seat cover.

Call it restaurant recycling.

According to Collins, some eateries will reuse bread. "The half eaten goes in the bread pudding or the stuffing box and the other loaf goes in the next person's dinner," he said.

"Or they make croutons. Everything is — can be reusable. Nothing is thrown away in a restaurant at all, ever," said Collins.

"I would never eat salsa because I've seen buckets of salsa … you have your salsa on the table and you dump it back in the pot and, and constantly reused," Collins.

Restaurants also reuse butter, the authors say.

And that butter, according to Bourdain, can turn up in your appetizer.

"Many restaurants save up their table butter, used table butter in a big crock of softened butter that they take out of your little, you know, butter dishes at the table. They'll heat it up, strain out the cigarette butts and the bread crumbs and use that for the hollandaise. Gross, but not unhealthy. I mean, they bring it up to a boil so it's OK," Bourdain said.

I work in the restaurant and I'll do my best to keep my hands clean. I wash them all the time. If I touch money and I'm going to be touching food, I'll wash my hands. I KNOW how dirty money is.

Yes I do notice places that do use gloves will have that person not only touch your food but the door handle, register, table, etc. So it's not as clean as you would think.

But if I go out and I see someone touching money and then touching my food, I would say something. Or if someone was running their hands through their hair, touching their nose, or sneezed in it w/o washing it, I would run or say something.

However, luckily I've never encountered a situation that badly.
