GOODRICH, Texas – East Texas authorities say they have cleared more than two dozen marijuana fields that contained about 100,000 plants worth an estimated $175 million.

Chief Deputy Byron Lyons from the Polk County Sheriff's Office tells KHOU-TV in Houston the fields were part of a sophisticated growing operation that used water from a creek to hydrate the marijuana plants.

A campground was also found on the site.

A deer hunter stumbled across the fields Saturday near the town of Goodrich, which is about 70 miles northeast of Houston.

Authorities say one man found in the woods has been arrested. The suspect's name has not been released.

Inmates from the county jail helped authorities pull up the plants and clear away the fields.

Someone is out a lot of money........someone is gonna be pissed.

The govt should harvest it & sell it to the public, a lot of tax money going up in flames.

Assuming they can't sneak it back in with them it was probably unfair and inhumane punishment.

Why in the hell would the police say how they got the tip ? Now the growers will start sniping the hunters.

Bad move by the smoky bear , its nobody's damn business how they got the tip.

The hunter should have just walked away & not said anything.......way too dangerous to be dropping a dime on a huge field that could be the cartels weed.

Well , yeah. .. Just too bad the police didnt care about the public safety of hunters and pointed the finger at em. ... I mean its one thing if it comes up in court proceedings , but there was no reason for Barny Fife to tell the press how they got the tip.
