If I had to go by the personnel starting in this game on both teams, I would easily go with Clemson..But the coaching gap here between Saban and Bowden is going to make this game closer than it should.

Assuming no preseason injuries I guess we will just have to disagree on this game. I follow the SEC and ACC closely and have for many years. IMO this is a major mismatch that Saban will not be able to overcome. Off the field issues, big ? marks on both offense and defense going against a Clemson team that should be one of the best rushing teams in the country.

Assuming Clemson is -4 or so, it will probably be, along with Tenn over UCLA, my biggest play of the first week.

As a Clemson fan, I hope you have a VERY happy birthday! I won't be making it to the game, because it's an even bigger date in my family -- my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. They're Clemson fans too (my dad tought there for 40 years), but celebrating at the Georgia Dome isn't quite what they're looking for at this stage in their lives. We'll be hosting the festivities and watching the game here in Dallas.

If (or should I saw when, and yes Im biased) Clemson gets past Alabama, it is very possible for it to be smooth sailing for the the rest of the year...All Clemson has to do is not lose to the weak opponents which they seem to do at least once a year, and after that they could very easily be undeated at the end of the year
