Early Selections

I went 53-36 on college football documented last year here on the prescription. I am back again and I expect to have similar results.

I am down on a couple of games already. A couple of the lines were just too juicy to pass up. I would like to wait for a couple more of my books to put some lines up as I only have 2 books right now with lines for all the opening weekend college football games.

VIRGINIA -14 -120 (betroyal)
NOTRE DAME +1.5 1/2 unit
NOTRE DAME -2.5 1/2 unit

I know the lines look a bit fishy but I got Notre Dame early at betroyal. It is still available at the -2.5 while Pinny has it at
-3.5. The reason I only had a half unit on it at +1.5 is because I typically don't keep much bankroll there

I will be adding some more as I might not be able to wait much longer on some of these lines that I expect will change against me.

Rutgers line is still available at Betroyal
Cal line played at Pinny and Oklahoma State line played this morning at Betroyal. Get on all these lines now as they are going up.

Like the Oklahoma State pick as I agree with that other poster "Railbird" that the UCLA coach is suspect. During the Pac 10 media day, Dorrell mentioned that the addition of the new offensive coordinator, Tom Cable, will make the offense much better. If anyone recalls, Tom Cable was the former coach at Idaho who failed miserably. If your offensive success rides on that guy, then it could very well be a long season.
Further, I don't think there is a home field advantage in that game. I could see the fans turning on the Bruins if they get off to a slow start.

Proman,

I am a bit concerned with Okie State starting a new QB but he is very talented and working behind a veteran and very solid OLine. He has a very strong running game to rely on so he doesn't need to pass much in this game. With the soft UCLA Defense, I expect to see smash mouth football from Okie State with them manhandling the line of scrimmage.

This line will go up to Okie State by a FG or more by kickoff.

Omaha, wasn't there an issue of slow pay with Betroyal recently. I am thinking about opening an account just to play a few of these early games. Your imput would be appreciated.OBTW, did Josh Fields go pro in baseball? If yes, can he still play football? LT

I have yet to try and collect anything from them. I haven't used them alot until just recently when they are one of only 2 books that I use that have lines up.

I hope getting paid isn't a problem. I expect to find out soon enough when I win these games.

Josh Fields has not been in the plans for Okie State for some time. The official announcement was before spring practice I believe. Rashaun Woods' younger brother is the starter and he is supposed to be awesome. His other brother will be the go to receiver. Hope this helps.

You make some good points and hopefully the Pokes will get the Victory and we get the cash.

I have heard good things about the new OSU QB too.
UCLA lost the best players from its DL ( The Ball twins) and best LB (Chillar)due to graduation. Last year, they were not that bad defensively. I expect a dropoff this year. Also, Pac-10 teams generally have a tough defending the option.

LA Times reporting that starting MILB Justin London(high ankle sprain) and OL Eyoseph Efeseaff (groing) will probably both miss the season opener.

UCLA also lost Matt Ware to the NFL and had a few transfers.

Adding a couple more:

NORTHWESTERN +8 (Betroyal)
BOWLING GREEN +35.5 (Betroyal)

I have several more that I am looking at. It may be my biggest opening weekend card ever. It may include up to 16 games. I have done more research than ever before for opening games. The possible 16 games will be from the kickoff classic through Sept 6th.

I like Virginia Tech to cover tonights game as an opinion and some fun money on them at +18.5
I will not use this as one of my selections though as it is about 1/5 of a unit play. I played it early as I expected it wouldn't get high enough to get to a key number such as +20 or +20.5 or even 21. It was at many books 18 or so a week or so ago when I got down on it as I had a small lean to VTech.

There are several things to keep in mind when betting and one of the most important one's that people overlook is what you predict the line movement or public perception will be. What key numbers is the opening line at. If you like the favorite and the line is -11 at one of your books and -11.5 at most of the other books and you are not sure of the predicted line movement or think that it may go up get down on it now even if it's not for a full unit because you aren't 100% sure if it will be a play. If the line swings as you expect it to and you opinion completely changes for some reason you can get off it with a slight chance at a middle for a small cost.

I myself know that almost 75% of the lines on the games I am considering will move against me, so, I get down early. I sometimes cringe to do it without "fully" capping a game but I do it anyway. It is usually my goal to handicap my college football games late Saturday Night if I'm not out celebrating

or Sunday while watching the NFL games so I am ready when the books release the lines around after the Sunday Night NFL game kicks off. You can swipe some good lines when they are first posted. Anyway, don't know if this helps anyone or not but I hope it's more than just rambling.... if nothing else, typing this just reminds me of how important it is to succesful betting.

Oh what a mess. I am down on different lines on most all of my games as I got caught with my pants down regarding account balances and line movement. I will post exactly what I got down on because I have told people before, this is how I keep track of my units won. So, no reason to fudge numbers as I will only be tricking myself... much like golf when you take 2 or 3 mulligans and say that you shot par.

Here they are:

NORTHWESTERN +8 1/2 unit
NORTHWESTERN +7 1/2 unit
CALIFORNIA -11 1/2 unit
CALIFORNIA -12.5 1/2 unit
BOWLING GREEN +35.5 1/2 unit
CINCY +17 1/4 unit
VIRGINIA -14 -120 1 unit
OKLAHOMA ST +2.5 1 unit
RUTGERS +9 1/2 unit
RUTGERS ML +210 1/4 unit
N DAME +1.5 1/2 unit
N DAME -2.5 1/2 unit

Sorry for all the confusion. Normally I don't even post until after I have placed my bets so I don't have to do something like this... what a mess. Bank wires and computer problems prevented me from getting the necessary cash to cover full unit bets.

Gl Omaha! I absolutely LOVE Cincinnati...I think they have a shot at an outright upset there!!

Gotta try to get something back in this NW game.
NW just can't slow TCU down and I don't see TCU backing down on offense with NWesterns ability to move the ball on them.

2nd Half both for 1/4 unit
TCU +1.5 Even
OVER 28

Thanks Hansen. I will be watching for you also.
I have a feeling this is going to be a great year... even better than my last 2 years here.
I am working harder then ever before.

Adding:

FRESNO STATE +3 1/2 Unit
FRESNO STATE ML +130 1/2 Unit
NAVY -6.5 (Olympic)
TROY STATE +15.5
