Now that I have a few minutes, thought I would give my reasoning on this.
1) Ole Miss typically plays better in this series in BR. Even in bad years for Ole Miss, they give LSU trouble in BR. The whole "Baton Rouge at night" thing is overrated. I've been there about 15 times. It's really not as intimidating as some would have you believe.
2) LSU is completing 51% of their passes this season. They have given up 16 sacks. They simply can't throw the ball on short to intermediate routes. They can hit you with a deep ball here and there, but that's tough to do against Ole Miss. One, the Ole Miss pass rush does a great job getting pressure with four. Two, Ole Miss has done a great job not giving up explosive plays this year(plays of 40 yards or more). All of this to say I think LSU is going to have trouble hitting the big play, and I don't think they are good enough to throw it enough to not be one dimensional here.
3) LSU is known for their running game. I fully expect them to try and run the ball right at the Ole Miss defense, thinking that they have the size advantage(they do). I just don't think they can string together enough first downs to put up any points. Let's be honest....they've played two decent defense(AU and MSU). Neither are in Ole Miss class. I just don't see how being one dimensional is going to do them any favors.
4) Turnovers. Ole Miss creates them. LSU doesn't. It will be HUGE in this game. Don't believe the national narrative you hear about "good Bo, bad Bo". In 4 conference games he has yet to turn the ball over. He takes much better care of the ball in conference play. This will make a big difference in the game.
5) Let me be clear. I don't think Ole Miss is going to role in to BR and score 30+ points. But Im trying to figure a way LSU gets to 20. Unless Ole Miss uncharacteristically starts to turn the ball over, I just don't see it. Take out garbage time, and this defense has given up two TD's in seven games. Two.(one to Bama and one to TAMU). They have only given up 6 including garbage time. The defense has scored 4 times. So, the first team defense has scored twice as many TDs as it's given up.
6) Honestly, Ole Miss is just better. They are better offensively. They are better defensively. They are better in kick coverage. They are even, at worst, in other aspects. I live here in Oxford. I know about 80% of these kids on a personal level. They won't be looking ahead to Auburn. This team has amazing resilience, and they truly understand the "one game at a time" thing. They will be fully prepared, and it wouldn't shock me to see them jump out to a quick lead like they did at TAMU. In the end, I think this thing finishes somewhere around 27-13.
