up late and handicapping w/o the benefit of any scratches or changes, but here's my take on this extremely mediocre card, which resembles a lazy wednesday at hollywood park.
r3: semoran's decision. don't know what kind of price we're in store for with this recent mullins acquisition, but this is a competitive eight pack of starter allowance runners. 'semora has trained well and the typical mullins' improvement will put this one right in the thick of it from the bell.
r6: dog days. this one is on his way up up up the class ladder for headley. he flashed some talent last year and put it all together in a very good looking win last out. this is not your typical step up in class as this optional claiming crew has only one runner with multiple victories against winners (kedington). the real key is whether 'days can transfer his turf form to dirt, and with his breeding, that shouldn't be a problem.
r7: swiss lake. this is really a play against likely favorite echo eddie, who ma be tailing off a bit after a very rigorous first few months of the year that included a trip to japan and miami. with him out of my picture, i have to beat the two mullins' horses, thunder bullet and king robyn. 'bullet looks the better of the two and has trained in smart fashion while king robyn, who admittedly is having a very nice year, has always struck me as a horse destined for another appointment with claimerville before too long. with the entry, i also get insurance with ecstatic, so anything better than 5/2 is a play for me.
