5Dimes has posted some very early lines for us to ponder. Maybe they have, but I don't remember CFB lines being posted this early. Here's a look at some key openers.

Boise State
Michigan State -9.5 -120

Michigan
Alabama -11.5 -120 (Dallas)

Marshall
W. Virginia -24.5 -120

Auburn
Clemson -4.5 -120 (Atlanta)

Southern Miss
Nebraska -11.5 -120

Navy
Notre Dame -12.5 -120

Props to win BCS Championship:

LSU +400
USC +600
Alabama +600
Oregon +1250

If you had to bet your house on one of the games above, which one would it be? Think I would take Clemson -4.5 over Auburn.

Probably the last time you will ever see 10 points and Boise St. in the same sentence in a long time. I know Hoke is a stud but so is Peterson. The Broncos may have sustained their share of losses due to attrition over the off-season (including their entire DL and of course Kellen Moore) but Chris Peterson will find a way to make it work. He always has.

I can't see this game being anything less than competitive and close to a DD line is out there IMHO, even if the game is being played at the big house. Could be just another in a long line of feathers in Peterson's cap so a SU win is not out of the question. I can't think of a single time he's lost one of these big OOC games in the past 5-7 years so betting that will happen here is a stretch of the imagination even if UM is stacked and Boise is reloading.

Week one is a special circumstance that Chris Peterson seems to have down pat.

12-1 seems like good odds for the Ducks. Who else besides USC do they have to get past in the PAC12 this year?

Boise State has two tough road games. They open 8/31 at Michigan State and travel to Southern Mississippi on 10/6.

Home......................Away
Miami, Oh...............Michigan State
BYU........................So. Miss
Colorada St.............Hawaii
Fresno St................Nevada
San Diego St...........New Mexico
UNLV......................Wyoming

Boise and BYU just signed a 12 year home/away contract. Should be a good series.

Mich +11.5 over Alabama seems intriguing... not that I like the Big 10 over the Sec but id take those points.

That's right. I did say the big house. But it's going to be no different vs MSU. Still a strong bet IMHO. There's nothing in Michigan that can give Boise any problems to worry about beyond a bunch of big lazy bodies.

KDog, the 11.5 does seem a bit high. Nine or ten would seem more realistic but before I blow off the 11.5 I would need to know more about Michigan's O-Line and what kind of defense is coming back....especially what kind of speed the defense has. I just haven't studied the Wolverines.

For a book like 5Dimes to throw 11.5 out there this early is a risk....but those guys are pretty damn good at what they do.

I do believe Bama has a chance to be really good again this season.
