games are going by the bowl projections at sportsline.com...

possible big plays

cali vs mia fla (emerald bowl)- hoping for -4

feeling here is just that cali is a much stronger team. miami won't contain that offense and dont have the weapons to keep pace.

tcu vs boise st (poinsettia bowl)- hoping for pk

tcu is the best non-bcs team imo, and their defense will prove to be too much. if they had any consistent offense they could hang with the top teams in the nation. their offense will be good enough to beat boise though. take the team that plays defense here

oregon st/pittsburgh under (sun bowl)- hoping for around 49/51

neither team has a passing offense that I would feel comfortable with and both teams like to run the ball. with the game featuring a lot of running the clock will keep ticking and as long as there isnt too many turnovers i think this one goes under easily

other possible plays

alabama vs utah (sugar bowl)- hoping for anything under 10

just overmatched here imo. im not big on bama at all, but they are far superior to utah. this should be a blowout. under would also be a strong play

nc state vs ball state (motor city bowl)- hoping for anything under 7

nc state really impressed me down the stretch and this is a team on the rise clearly. ball state played a laughable schedule that almost any bowl team from a bcs conf would have gone undefeated in. their record doesnt impress me. nc state is far better

will have more up later, this is just what appeals to me at first glance. hopefully these matchups all happen.

anyone have any strong leans yet?

TCU/ Boise would be a great matchup to wager. Everyone in the world will be on Boise. I can see TCU D dominating that one.
May even get a decent ML on the toad.

I think that Boise will definitely be the public team, but not as much as you might think. TCU has their fair share of backers from what I've seen. I do agree though that TCU's defense could dominate this game. If TCU opens as a dog I'll be incredibly happy. Feeling here is they should be favored by at least 4.

Be careful with all that chalk. You're essentially betting three teams that will all likely be unhappy with where they are and who they're playing. Texas, Alabama and USC probably all feel like they should be in the National Championship game. I think at least one of these teams lose straight up, and I'm guessing that team is Texas. Alabama and USC both are far more talented than their opponents, but the motivational edge might be enough for one of Utah or Penn St to cover.

I know you love Boise, but I can't see them beating TCU more often than not.

I hope you're not too putting much of your $$$ on these plays.

Wouldn't want you to lose you entire bankroll...

My first thought out of everything was, what and the hell is Clemson doing playing on New Years day? Clemson is a total Fraud. The under in the TCU Bosie game should be a soild play. I see the total being about 49.

Yeah, I have no idea how the hell Clemson and Nebraska will be playing each other on new years day. Why they have bowl games like uk vs east carolina, and uconn vs buffalo and tulsa vs ball state after new years day doesnt make sense either. All should be near the beginning of bowl season.

all bowls are pretty much official now. one change has been made that ive seen. ball state and nc state are no longer slated to play each other unfortunately. they now have nc state playing rutgers in the papajohns.com bowl, and ball state has moved to the GMAC bowl vs Tulsa.

One of the most fun games to watch if you like offense will be Missouri vs Northwestern. That game should put up over 70 without too much trouble. I'll be on Mizzou there at anything under -10. BYU/Arizona is a good early bowl game that I'll be sure to watch.

I remember when New Years Day was my favorite sports day, now they have it all spread out. I don't like it at all. You had all of the major bowls on one day, it was awesome.

ACC's no. 9 against PAC-10's no. 4. Sounds like a mismatch, but Cal somehow lost on the road at ACC's no. 11 in September.

Cal -7

You haven't been paying attention. Clemson is the best team in the best conference in the country, or so the computers say.

-7 is where I believe the line should be, probably even higher. I'm hoping the miami name keeps it down a bit though, and hopefully people continue to hate the pac 10 and fade them throughout the bowl season. i see that conference doing well in the bowls, they have good matchups. i see oregon beating ok st.

USC could play their C game & cover against Penn State. They realistically knew they were not going to make the title game. I hope Sark doesn't coach in this game as that would make me love them even more. He is a horrible O.C. & does not know how to maximize the superior talent he has.

Alabama totally outclasses Utah & would need to gift wrap the game for Utah to stand a chance.

Texas might be the only one to slip up but it would have to be a major slip up. I feel they totally outclass Ohio State.

I do love Boise State but I am not a blind follower. I do not bet them as much as one would think. I take my shots on them & rarely lose. I am also a huge TCU believer. I just don't feel they can score enough to beat Boise State.

Can USC play their "C" game and beat Oregon State? How about Stanford?

All fair points. I do agree that Bama and USC totally outclass their opponents I'm just worried about them not really caring. Alabama might not be as big of a problem because this is new to all the players on the team and Saban will make sure these guys are ready. USC seems to be in a no win situation. If they win people will just say "who cares, you beat up on a crappy big 10 school again" and if they lose it's "usc was overrated, pac 10 sucks." I think you're right in the fact that USC can not play their best and still probably cover pretty easily, but Penn St isn't a bad team. They have some playmakers and a pretty solid defense. As much as the under looks good here, if it opens at around 45/46 I think the over might be a solid play.

Those weren't their "C" games. Those were the worst games of the year for USC in each year.
