I had little doubt that Pedroia would come up big last night but sharply avoided betting on his total (hits, runs and rbi's) given his struggles in this series.

Well tonight's a new night, the total is now down to 2.5 (-110) and think tonights the night the MVP candidate breaks out of his series long slump.

This could be over the total after his first at-bat.

Take Dustin Pedroia to have more than 2.5 hits, runs and rbi's in tonights contest.

I dont see it happening personally. Ive got the Red Sox for the series, so I hope not also. The thing is that Lackey pitched so well there in his only start of the season at Fenway, and I dont know if that is something that is going to help him get over his past failures in that ballpark. He had been 2-2 with a 5.11 ERA at Fenway in the 3 years previous to this one.

I think Pedroia has hit a wall or sorts. I just don't see his spunk at the dish and his solid ab's of working a count at all this series. Being hit on the knee didn't help matters at all, which I think effected him at the plate the rest of last nights game. I know he is a gamer, but at this time of the year, he is not the only top tier major leaguer to struggle in the post season.

Pedroia again uses homer to extend streak

BOSTON -- When Dustin Pedroia came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning on Thursday afternoon, it was shaping up as his last chance to extend a career high hitting streak.
And in typical Pedroia fashion, he not only extended the streak to 25 games, but he did so emphatically, belting a solo homer over the Green Monster that sliced Kansas City's lead to 4-3.

On Wednesday night, Pedroia hit a first-inning homer to push his hitting streak to 24 games.

Pedroia is hitting .404 (44-for-109) during the streak with nine doubles, a triple, nine homers, 20 RBI and 27 runs.

His streak is the longest by a Red Sox second baseman.
