Damn right there is. I'm far from an expert but I would guess I am pretty close with these observations. For starters just about every shop has at least two sets of lines. In fact some probably have many more, wise, superwise, syndicate, square, clown etc.... I can personally verify they deal clown lines to us clowns, LOL.
I would guess most places use at least two standards or main guidelines and they add or subtract from there. Sharp (wise) and square. For instance if you are painted as wise you will get the Don Best consensus. And by the way to be painted with wise lines the definition can be as loose as having "multiple outs". You don't have to beat anyone big to be dealt wiseguy lines. If they know you can shop prices that will put you in the sharp category all by itself. During baseball if you are painted wise you will always get a middle of the road price, never the highest or the lowest on screen. For everyone other than wise you get general lines and maybe get tweaked here or there as they get a feel for your play.
Anyway I have never worked off shore so maybe others can verify this or add to this information. Nothing usually creates more silence from a book than a topic like this. LOL. They all do it but no one wants to discuss it publicly, LOL. Can't say I blame them as some players think dual lines are unethical. They feel being profiled is not fair. I guess I am somewhere in the middle. If a book offers you a line than you have the option of playing it or not. If they offer you a line and then change it based on what side you want that is unethical. Regardless of what we think personally dealing different sets of lines to different players are part of the business and is here to stay.
