Which is best and why?
I've had my best times in the sleazoid casinos on and off Fremont

The big strip megaresorts seem sterile and their BJ rules suck

I prefer downtown most of the time. Better gambling. Better deals on good food. Everything close and within walking distance.

The only time I prefer the strip is on Sunday's during NFL season. I prefer to watch the games in a nice sportsbook when I bet them.

The past couple of years I've been staying at the Red Rock. Red Rock is just as nice as any Strip property. Has cheaper gaming. Good restaurants. And a nice sportsbook. Everything I want in 1 spot.

depends on what you are going for, but if its just for gambling then you absolutely have to visit DT. The megaresorts on the strip cater more to the "party crowd" imo

I prefer downtown. Close proximity between properties and I love the feel of it. Downtown is vegas if you ask me.

I go downtown for one thing primarily... the Hawaiian food on the second floor of the California Club. Yum; get hungry just thinking about it.

another story about the decline in gambling odds for players on the strip....I spend 90% of my vegas time off strip or downtown

Wynn Drops to 2x Craps Odds, Aria and Bellagio Now Dealing 6:5 Blackjack

Aria65BJ.jpg

It seems as though gambling becomes more of a losing proposition every week on the Vegas Strip.
A couple weeks ago, we were tipped off to New York-New York taking their house edge tweaks in blackjack to the high limits room for the first time. Now we get word from numerous sources, including the photo above from tipster @PaperPoster that the last two casinos on the Vegas Strip that didn’t offer 6:5 blackjack--Aria and Bellagio--have joined the growing trend.
This isn’t a small change to blackjack at Aria and Bellagio. @John_mehaffey reports that there arenow a total of 40(!) blackjack tables that say “Blackjack pays 6-5" between the two properties. The difference from the traditional 3:2 blackjack is that you're getting paid $12 for a $10 wager on a 6:5 game vs. getting paid $15 for a $10 wager on a 3:2 game.
But wait...there’s more.

Wynn has decided to almost double their house edge in craps by changing from 3x-4x-5x odds to 2x odds. Wynn joins Circus Circus with the worst craps odds on the Vegas Strip. The change takes the house edge from .374 to .572.
While 2x odds isn’t the worst bet in the casino, it’s about as bad as you'll find when playing the passline or come bets in craps. Walking through casinos over the past couple weeks I’ve noticed that the majority of players aren’t taking odds so this may not affect most craps players. That said, Wynn is one of the few casinos where you would see most craps players maxing odds on pass line wagers and come bets.
Unfortunately, this may signal the beginning of 2x craps odds taking over the Vegas Strip in the next couple of years.
