For the money I would try both. I have used cable more than DSL and like it more. DSL just gets more press IMO.

It always depends in part upon your provider, but in all of my experiences, cable is ALWAYS faster--and often much, much faster.

TT is right it depends on your provider & probably the most important thing is location. I know people who have success with both as in one area dsl blows cable away but go to another area & cable blows away dsl. I would read reviews & go from there.

I suggest checking out www.dslreports.com They have sections for alot of broadband companies across the country with forums for them as well so you can get a feel for what will work for you.

If you live within a couple of hundred of feet from a central station for phone service DSL is better, if not cable a litle better.

If you live in heavy populated areas with losts of apartments and buildings cable will get slow at times.

Overall slight edge to Cable

Which is better? There is no 'one' correct answer...

We were one of the 1st in our area to get cable and it was fast... As more and more homes around us got cable our speed dropped, dropped down so much so we went to DSL about a year ago.

Before we went to DSL our DL speed at peak hours wasnt much better than dial-up.

I actually think DSL is a little better, especially if you use the computer a lot during the mid-day and early evening when cable sometimes slows down pretty bad. The thing that bothered me a lot about DSL was that they make you do this little sign on routine and it makes you subject to hassle, the thing would freeze up every now and then. In any event it wasn't quite "always on" which I thought was the broadband motto. Also I got DSL when it was more expensive, if its the same price as cable then its a fair comparison. The key for me was that I got rid of my home phone and got a complete cable package. For the price of just DSL and a phone I never used I get middle tier speed and premium cable and don't even have to worry about that do not call list. With cell phones and a broadband at home connection you really can easily cut out the phone company. Amen to that...
