I recently had a bet cancelled after the fact @ DSI. I bet both on the phone and parlays on the internet on the Kansas City Brigade in Arena Football. After the game my winner was changed to a 'NO BET' and I call to find out why. I was told it was a grading error and the money was placed into my account. I then checked my account the following day only to see that the money was once again removed. The reason given was that they had listed the wrong opponent. In fact, they listed an opponent that does not even exist.

I listened to the tape and when I asked about the line on the Brigade, I was told Oklahoma Rangers -8. I bet the Brigade and also two other bets. The read back only listed the Brigade, not the fictional other team, and I confirmed.

Needless to say, I am not happy about this. Th total cost of them voiding this wager for me was over $5k. I have placed into action more than $1m there in the history of my account and was down $40k plus early this season before going on a run. I am also very concerned with the fact that the bet was cancelled after the game and the Brigade covered. Certainly no one bet on the fictional team, so did they just wait for the outcome before deciding whether or not to cancel? The line of 8 was the standard line out there, so that was not obvious. I understand that they had the wrong team listed as the opponent, but when I checked my pending bets, only the Brigade +8.5 (I get free half points) was listed.

I spoke with a gentleman named Brent in claims and he told me that they would not pay.

Does anyone have any pull there? What do people think about this situation? Is it my fault for not noticing the Oklahoma opponent instead of Orlando? Can anyone help me?

All thoughts/opinions are appreciated.

Overcoming this is going to be tough for you to do. The golden rule is generally that the readback & confimation is the official play(s).

The read back did not mention the fictitional team making the readback in the players favor.

My belief is, unless DSI sent you an email before the kickoff of the game, you should be paid in full for this bet. The line was the same or close to all the other books. DSI needs to pay if everything the poster says is accurate and true.

Sorry, I misunderstood the issue. I'm sure Wil can get their side of the story tomorrow.

I will find it very interesting if their side of the story varies AT ALL from mine. They completely agreed with me on the facts via phone, just said that they wouldn't pay me for a "matchup that didn't exist." I told them that I would see what the gambling comunity thought and if they agreed with them, that I would back off; if they agreed with me, I would pursue the issue further. It seems so far that people strongly agree that they are in the wrong here.

Sounds like you got screwed, though if they had paid they would be paying all the winners and would have no losers since there is no way they could grade as a loss for someone who took a fictional team. The situation is probably covered by there rules. Anyhow, they should have cancelled it before the game if they were going to do it right.

p.s. You get free half points at DSI??? Only on Arena football or on other sports too???

Sounds like total crap. Book keeps wager alive to collect if bettor's team loses and doesn't pay if bettor's team wins claiming matcup was non-existent. If book doesn't cancel wager before kick, it's their tough luck. When a business makes a mistake that benefits customer or hurts businees that's consideres "part of doing business. DSI should reprimand/fire individual responsible for putiing up incorrect matchup. In this case bettor aleays gets screwed. What happenned to the customer is right?

I would love to hear the outcome of this. There is no doubt DSI was in the wrong.

Would he have the same recourse if he lost after reading his graded wagers he notices that the wrong opposing team was listed ???? (and honestly thought he had a bet not knowing about the name mistake)

DSI would laugh at him if he called on that.

Maybe more needs to be known. I follow a certain capper myself and he would just list what he liked (KC -8 for example). I would then call it in, not knowing or caring about the the other team. Who's playing who is not widely known by everyone (kind of like a third tier NCAA BB game) as in the NFL (with all the amount of action on each game.)

LET THIS BE A LESSON LEARNED TO DSI to take a little more care with their Arena lines. The players bet should stand. Seems like the player was not taking a shot either in any way shape or form as well.

I have been in touch with upper management from DSI and have been informed that Amis18 will be paid in full for his wagers on the Kansas City/Orlando Arena football game. The misunderstanding occured when one of the teams playing in that game was errornounsly entered online as Oklahoma instead of Orlando. Once upper management at DSI had a chance to review what happened they agree with many here that Amis18 should be paid in full.

Thanks to all for your feedback, and thanks to DSI for their prompt attention to this matter, wil....

Great work Wil and Rx! I am always glad to know there are informative players out there to come to Rx to settle. I feel bad for all the players unaware of such sites and just suck up losses.

Any truth DSI took this player's half point promotion away from him after this decision? I didnt even know DSI offered half points.
