This Saturday, Santa Anita presents The Santa Anita Derby (Grade I) for 3 year olds at a mile and one eighth on the All Weather Track for a purse of $750,000. A field of 10 is currently scheduled to go to the post at 5:40 p.m. EDT. The race is scheduled to be televised on NBC starting at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Expecting to see Z Day setting a pretty solid pace up front here particularly with The Pamplemousse scratched from the race. The pack may stay well back of him as not sure he can go the distance here and should come back to the field. So looking for a stalker here to run him down on the far turn and try and hold off the closers in this race. Baffert's horse fits the stalking style and for a closer, sort of think Hollendorfer's horse could run well at a price.
