Bossert's take

11. Mine That Bird proved his Derby upset was no fluke as he rebounded with a sharp placing effort in the Preakness; gelding should run them down with his powerful late kick. Dunkirk never got to run his race in the Derby; very talented colt. Flying Private ran a much improved fourth in the Preakness despite some traffic troubles.

6-7-2 will be winning trifecta number, numbers have alot of meaning to me and have been very lucky in the past.

Would of played that order no matter what.. Won a $4,300 trifecta with that combo in monmouth park about a year ago. Roommate also won $750 at the local dog-track with that combo about 4 months ago, it's just had some luck for me in the past. I put $25 on it (non-boxed) because the odds aren't the best. GL everyone.

The mile and a half Belmont is much different then either the Kentucky Derby and Preakness as it is run on a mile and one half track with a sandy base and long, sweeping turns. This has proved to be significant as it has been 31 years since any horse has won the Triple Crown. Horses that make moves in the first two legs often find it difficult to sustain the long runs. Trainer Woolley has already voiced his concern as to whether or not Mind That Bird will take to the sandy surface. Plus, both in this years Kentucky Derby and Preakness, the early pace in each race was very lively which allowed Mind That Bird to run at tiring horses. Today, in this marathon, expect to see much slower fractions for the quarter, half and three quarter miles. It appears that Miner's Escape may have the lead with Charitable Man in a close stalking position and Dunkirk likely not to far behind, while Mind That Bird will be running slowly near the rear. It is possible for Mind That Bird to win this race, but he is currently even money and in no way should be that price IMHO as these race conditions don't suit him. There is some talk by some of the trainers to send their horses a little earlier then usual as to not let Charitable Man get away, however, that is likely to comprise their own chances. This race appears to set up for both Charitable Man and Dunkirk to be well enough ahead of Mind That Bird in a controlled pace.

#6 Charitable Man (Win & Place)
#2 Dunkirk/#6 Charitable Man (Exacta Box)

Good luck everyone!

Charitable Man is now 5-1, so I'm taking a chance. $50 win on Charitable Man. The only longshot I see with a chance is Chocolate Candy. Good luck.
