Hollywood Park presents The Hollywood Oaks (Grade II) for 3 year old fillies running 1 & 1/16 miles on the synthetic track for a purse of $150,000. This race appears to have plenty of speed to set a lively pace up front. Lady Lumberjack, Carlsbad and Kays and Jays all come off sprints where each set very fast quarters. Going to take a chance that with this much speed, the pacesetters will be softened up and vulnerable to the closers. Kind of like Cerin's filly as she finished just behind Carlsbad in the Railbird (Grade III) and came back on 5/31 with a bullet work of 58.6 which was the best of 41 at the distance that day. Espinoza, who is having an excellent meeting, takes over for Rios which should help.
