Golden Gate Fields proudly presents The El Camino Real Derby (Grade III) for 3 year olds running 1 & 1/8 miles on the all weather surface for a purse of $200,000. Currently 10 are entered to start with post time scheduled for 7:43 p.m. EDT. This is an open thread with all opinions, thoughts, selections, discussion, whatever very much welcome. Best of luck.

Appears to be some pretty good speedsters in this one, most likely led by Handsome Mike who could be accompanied by Rockinarz Recruit for 6 furlongs. Plenty of stalkers in here as well. Pace should be very honest to possibly fast. Therefore, going to go with the local California Derby winner who gets the extra furlong, should be closing fast, and will likely go off at odds better then the morning line. Shippers command respect and will take a good chunk of the mutual pool IMHO.

Agree with Ted on the pace scenario, but not convinced 8 will try to go with them. 10, 9, 3, and 7 with blinks on will all likely be trying for lead. 6 has biggest closing kick if he shipped OK. also like 1 here. and think 8 might get a piece at huge odds.
