Gulfstream Park proudly presents The Donn Handicap (Grade I) for 4 year olds and up running 1 & 1/8 miles on the dirt for a purse of $500,000. Currently 11 are entered to start with post time scheduled for 4:45 p.m. EDT. This is an open thread with all opinions, thoughts, selections, discussion, whatever very much welcome. Best of luck.

Supplementary nomination by Noon Friday February 3, at a fee of$25,000 which includes entry and starting fee. $500,000 Guaranteed. All fees shall be paid prior to the start of the race. Monies to be divided 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth, 3% to fifth and 2% to sixth. Weights: Saturday, February 4, 2012. Starters to be named through the entry box by the usual time of closing. This race will be limited to 14 Starters, with Also Eligibles. Appears the pace should be honest with the likes of Shackleford and Trickmeister in here. They both break from the outer portion of track but should get clear of the others. If they hook up in a speed dual, the race would set up for any number of stalkers and closers. The race is filled with returners that haven't started since last year. Some between two and three month layoffs. I'm going to take a stand that the two up front mentioned won't hook up over the sloppy track. Shackleford can take them all the way or stalk Trickmeister.
