Imagine if this was the very first year professionals were allowed in the Olympics and the US put together a team the same way they did in 1992. Anyone asked would play and just as Bird and Magic played despite being at the the end of their careers, Kobe and Duncan are on the team this year. First nine might look something like this:
G Steph Curry
G Russell Westbrook
G Chris Paul
G Kobe Bryant
F LeBron James
F Kevin Durant
F Anthony Davis
F Tim Duncan
F Kawhi Leonard
Have to go with either Irving or Harder if not both in the backcourt. Could possibly take either Aldridge or Green in the frontcourt. Or could take Dwayne Wade as a lifetime achievement award, or we could include Andrew Wiggins as the "college" player
Based on what they do over their entire careers, I think this group has a chance to surpass what the 2012 group did. James, Bryant, Duncan are comparable to Jordan, Magic, Bird. No one else on either team comes all that close to top 10 all time, though Curry eventually could.
