Sorry to say that I will not make the bash this year, but I'll advance reserve my room right now for next year. I've had a trip to Vegas planned for the first week of the NFL season, and just can't make it out for the bash. But anyway, my buddies and I are wanting to play in several NL tourneys on the Thur and Fri, Sept 9 and 10. Do they have daily tourneys downtown, or even on the Strip? We figured the poker would be better downtown. So, if we stay downtown, where should we stay? Please also let me know if any of you know what the daily poker is like in Vegas. You guys have fun at the bash!

I would stay at no other place besides the GOLDEN NUGGET or the MAIN STREET STATION.

Yeah, I guess.

Like the others said, the GOLDEN NUGGET is head and shoulders above the rest as far as rooms are concerned.

The Main Street Station has the best buffet though IMO.........and everybody thinks its the Nugget.

Even the Fremont on certain nights rivals the Nugget buffet.

Fitz's does have a couple of nice suites, as far as the rest of their rooms I don't know. But the Nugget is the best of downtown.

Not sure you'll find the best poker downtown. Tourist fish generally swim down the strip. The GN has a new room I haven't tried so can't comment. Plaza is often full of deadwood and rocks. Binions room is probably on the slide since the Nugget opened.

Bellagio and Mirage have poker at all limits and are very busy. Imperial Palace is across the street, although I have yet to play there a poster here indicates its a good spot. Can often pick up a few $'s at Flamingo and Harrah's either has or will soon have a new room.

The above is live games. Mirage and Bellagio have regular tournaments with fairly high buy-ins. The biggest place for tournaments is The Orleans on Tropicana West of the strip. They run noon and evening tournaments every day. If you don't have a car you can get a shuttle on the strip at the Barbary Coast. Easy and cheap morning tournaments are at the Mandalay Bay and Luxor and I believe Luxor now has several every day. Need to be early to get a seat since it's limited at these last two. For tournaments check the Card Player.
