I was watching Lamar Odom's recent melt down video where he was basically ranting about how the media ruined his life. Obviously a prelude to the events that took place last night. I've always hated the paparazzi and what they stand for. But in todays society with camera phones and instant access/news I can see where the stars are coming from.

I would have no problem if an ISIS rogue missile accidently made it passed our American defenses and landed at TMZ's headquarters during business hours. It would do society a big favor.

With that said, I hope Lamar Odom makes it out of this.

Amount of money made means next to nothing....There are tens or hundreds of thousands who could buy odom as easily as a gallon of milk but you dont see them on TMZ. Wonder why?

I'm also from the school of letting celebrities live their lives with some privacy and dignity, just like we all want

and I think the paparazzi are pure scum with their tactics and their behavior, I'm not sure why anyone would condone their behavior

I really can't fault them as a company too much when the culture does demand a product like this. If it wasn't them, then someone else would fill the vacuum in the marketplace.

The issue is moreso with the culture than with a particular "news" outlet. Unfortunately people eat this stuff up. No different than the news always leading with a gun death, etc. It is the ugly side of the information age.

A better question would be, why do people care about so and so's misfortunes? Don't they have better things to do?

I agree about reputations being ruined by half-truths. Deadspin and TMZ have yet to be successfully sued, so they are getting the scoop. Paparazzi that are shooting pics to sell for profit are scum.

Nobody is forcing celebs & athletes to pursue a high-fame career (and then compound the problem by pursuing a flashy & high-attention lifestyle).

Nobody forced Odom to *knowingly* join an attention-whore family. If you go looking for hot water...
