Dont you think its time for name change for this forum? (THEPRESCRITION/THERX)

Has anyone ever thought about the name THEPRESCRIPTION or THERX?

When you think about it, you could not come up with a dumber name for a sportsforum if you tried.

Not bashing THERX, but I just feel like its time for a name change.

It makes about is much sense as the UTAH JAZZ or the New Orleans Hornets.

The first owner of this site was a SHRINK, I can see why the old owner would want the name, but its a useless name right now.

It's almost like saying hey ESPN is a dumb name for a sports channel let's change it. To many people know therx as "therx" regardless of its a sports name or not. It would take alot of years and alot of dollars to brand another name the same way therx is branded in the minds of gamblers.

You would not have to go thru all that trouble.

First of all, TheRX already owns the URLS for THERX and THEPERSCRIPTION. They would not lose one bit of business from customers that are already here.

The name change would simply be for people who have never heard of this site. For the people that already know, its no big deal.

Lets just say that I was a newbie that wanted to find a sportsforum. I go to google and type in the words SPORTS FORUM. I get the names MAJORWAGER, EYE ON GAMGLING AND THEPRESCIPTION.

The first thing im going to do is click on one of the other 2 names. I am just going to assume that google by mistake pulled up some drug prescription site by accident and move on to the other 2 sites.

Were you the one who tried to change Coca Cola to the new coke too. By the way do a google search to DO NOT get eog in the first page of a google search you get therx, MW, MJ and a few more. Besides few people read the actual url. More people read the description that is below the url. I don't see therx being at a loss in attracting new posters anyway.

Sorry for the another post.

I used gambling sports forums as the key word for my google example. Russ is also smart and must pay google some change since under just sports forums MW is the second link.

The google search for therx is this.

No one is going to confuse this for a drug website. However im sure you can find good pot if you know the right people here.

The coke comparision is apples and oranges. Im not saying to change the whole formula like coke did, all im saying is to change the name.

It would not affect the old posters one bit.

The bank I use to use was BANKONE, but CHASE bought BANKONE out about 6 months ago. When I go to my bank account on the internet, I still type in www.bankone.com out of habit but it brings up the website for my new bank www.chase.com

This is what THERX could do with there name change.
Not one current customer would leave over the change, and I bet you would pick up alot of newbies.

Therx.com is always going to be ahead in the search engine field if you change the name of the site to a more sports related name and then forword it which is the way most posters find this site aside from word of mouth.

The order in which your site comes up on the search engines has very little to do with the name.

It has to do with the tags that the IT people use for the search engines to find you.
