If they are lucky enough Hampton will injure himself for the rest of the season and then they will have a real nice shot at winning. They are starting to get healthy and are coming together as a team. They have also cut way down on their errors compared to the begining of the year. They have a solid bullpen too which is more than can be said for the Cubs, Cards, Astros, Giants and Mets.

They have to be the favorites to win the eastern crown

guys i know quite a bit about this ballclub. cox and shuerholtz have done a good job holding this team together -------- however ownership is killing them, payroll must be cut again next year... a week or so ago, they were almost willing to let andruw and ortiz walk away this season.... i hope they can pull this season out, and i truly think they can but unless AOL sells this team, the next few years will be rough.... Go Braves..

I've got Furcal and Chipper on my fantasy team. Needless to say, I'm expecting big things from my team (and the Braves) in the 2nd half.

Despite low production from Furcal and Chipper, the Braves are still in the hunt. As of now, Chipper is hitting .214!!!!!!!!

Imagine if Chipper "only" hits .275 for the rest of the season. That would have a huge impact upon Atlanta's offense.

Now that Chipper is playing 3B (and doesn't have to run all over the outfield), his hitting should improve.

But you have to worry about JD Drew. He is having a great year, but I'm sure he'll get injured sooner or later. He always does!

Overall, you're probably right. Playing 3B involves more wear & tear.

However, Chipper has hamstring problems. So playing 3B will give his hammys a rest.
