Have you tried contacting an independent locksmith? A lot of the locksmiths have gone high tech and have the ability to reprogram chipped keys for any type of car. You would be surprised to see the type of equipment that they have tucked away in their cargo vans. Just a thought, I never believe anything that a car dealership has to tell me. Having to replace a ECM in order to replace a key seems sketchy.

when you get a Lexus they give you a key ring with a 5 digit code on it (which you are supposed to keep in a safe place). With that code you can call up any Lexus dealer and they can get a key for you instantly.

If you call the dealership where you purchased the car they can look up the key number for you.

Do you not have this information?

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

If u lose that code the dealership can not look up the info. I took my car back to the dealership that i bought the car. Keep in mind that this is a 1999 RX 300....so i don't know if that has anything to do w/ it.

Finally got the car and it cost $742...for 1 master key and 1 Valet Key
