I'm still gonna bury Floyd, it's just too absurd of an overlay based on the skillsets of the respective fighters to not do so.

But the fact the line is -650 and not -2000 right now is really puzzling. Figured tons of 100k-200k bets would be flowing in on Floyd.

[h=2]Nevada Athletic Commission director Bob Bennett revealed that Floyd Mayweather’s team actually inquired about changing the glove size to eight ounces.[/h]
On Wednesday, Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett revealed that the Mayweather team actually reached out to them to inquire about the possible glove change. According to him, “The Money Team” would need to make a case as to why the change should be made, and if both teams pleaded their case at an August 16th commission meeting, a waiver could be awarded.

“They would have to come before the commission and articulate why they should be permitted to have their fight using 8-ounce gloves. The chairman (Anthony Marnell) and commissioners would make the determination with the health and safety of the fighters being the number-one priority,” Bennett explained.

According to Nevada’s overhauled combative sports regulations that were made effective in September 2016, it has been mandated that fighters over 135 pounds should wear ten-ounce gloves. Those who will be permitted to wear eight-ounce gloves are fighters between the 135-pound to the 147-pound range, upon agreement. Fighters competing above the 147-pound limit will not be granted the same option.

The regulation also stipulates that the commission will only be allowed to deviate from the ruling is if there is a title on the line.

Bennett also clarified that Mayweather’s team only made some inquiries, and have not submitted any official petition.

Is Mayweather looking like an all in type bet to anyone? Feels like better than pocket aces.

Yeah he's a lock barring outright riggage.

Line is the craziest thing I've ever seen in sports betting. Not hyperbole either.

OFFICIAL:

Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place in 8-ounce gloves.

NSAC makes a one-time exception on its own rule.

Robert Byrd will be referee

Second time he’s handled a Mayweather fight before. Byrd’s first time reffing Floyd was his 2013 win over southpaw Robert Guerrero.

Other notable recent major boxing events Byrd has featured in include the first Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev matchup, as well as Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez.

He’s a well-respected official who has been in the fight game for more than three decades.

Your three judges at ringside will be Dave Moretti, Burt Clements, and Guido Cavalleri.

Moretti and Clements were two of the judges who scored the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in 2015, with Moretti having Floyd winning 118-110, while Clements went a bit closer at 116-112. Cavalleri scored 115-112 for Mayweather over Marcos Maidana in their 2014 rematch, and otherwise has an extensive history judging fights outside the United States.

You can argue Cavalleri is the “international judge" McGregor’s team wanted.

You never ever know in sports but I have no problem saying this is the most absurd line that I can ever recall in sports betting.

Seriously unless this is a Sonny Liston/Ali situation then Mayweather isn't losing. The skillgap is massive.

And 8oz gloves won't help McGregor, Floyd fought with 8oz gloves for the lions share of his career.
