Bill, is there a Yankee you won't defend?

Pretty big "brain fart", cost them the game in all likely hood.
Big game as well, they haven't won since the break and their chances of making the playoffs slip by the day.

Believe it or not, Donny wasn't one of my fave Yanks, having said that, he reacted to a players question without realizing he left the dirt area.
It was one of those split second reactions that happened to be wrong, he just wanted to answer his fielders question.
I can see how that could happen.

How many big league games has Donnie managed?
Shitloads of rookie managers would have probably done the same thing.

I understand the circumstances and that is was a mistake. I don't care either way as I didn't have money on the game nor do I care what happens in the NL West.

But I question the free pass you give Mattingly...And if it was another teams coaches, say from the AL East, somewhere north of NY, would that free pass still stand? I think your opinion may be different.

Its all good. Just wondering where the "homer" limit is set with you. LOL (now I'm just trying to pick on you)

Donny was never really 'my boy', just like Jeter isn't really 'my boy'.
Donny is indeed kind of dopey in a hick sort of way, Jeter is cold and calculating and hard to lilke.
So when Donny stopped playing for NYY, he's just another guy to me, same with Jeter.
Having said that Donny can play first for my team any day of the week, same with DJ, I would not want too many other SS's there, but that is as far as it get to homerism's with those two.

Who are 'my boys', you wonder?

Mattingly & rule

OK..kind of a dumb thing to happen but it did. A rule is a rule and it is not the first time this has happened. I really wished the Yanks had hired Mattingly as manager but I'll never forget one opinion is that he couldn't even do an interview. LOL Say it ain't so Don..one of the best hitters and fielders in the game stats wise but not what the Yanks were looking for as manager. Good luck with LA Don if they hire you to lead the team,I hope you prove everyone wrong and can do the job.

Tony?
How many Don Mattingly related threads are we going to start?

The guy had a brain fart, let it go dude.

not sure if i am done...Or just getting started? That was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in MLB. One run lead against their number one rival. Beanings all night long...and plenty of intensity...

So that was not the time to for a non-chalant move like that...
