I have found often times that in Pinnacle's attempt to post their own line, often times they are way off from the opening line used by most Offshore Books. An example occured again today, when in college hoops, the Kansas/Iowa State game was being held offline overnight due to the known absence of Kansas star forward Wayne Simien, but more so the unknown health of guard Keith Langfold. When the line was finally posted they opened the game at 8:02 EST this morning with a line of Kansas -11, which was quickly hammered in less then 10 minutes to -6 and now currently stands at -3.5. Is it just me, or do others feel that Pinnacle gambles too much in the manner they choose to post their lines?

That's a huge discrepancy.... no doubt about it Pinnacle fly's their own plane....is it good, well, Pinnacle isn't the best book by accident IMO...that particular line obviously not the best example of Pinny's finest... Ted what did you get it at?

They gamble but they are sharp. They reduce their limits for overnights and they move wildly compared to if the same amount of money comes in on the play 2 hours before tip off. They also have their players profiled which helps them to get to the line they want rather quickly. Teddy I posted up with Pinnacle within the first 2 months that they started their post up business. The most they would take on an NFL game was 2,000k on a side and 1k on a total. Now they take up to 120k on a side and 80k on a total. They have always used opinionated lines and they are right more times than they are wrong.

Jman:

I wish I could say I got it at the opener, but that would be 5:00 a.m. my time. Would never have expected such a number as I projected it to be about 4, which is what I got it at this afternoon. Iowa State is one of my two posted plays today.

Ted, these books are not flawless in their posting. It happened twice to me last Year where I was told later that the price was incorrect, one after the result. When I enquired, I was quoted this rule.

15. If there are any blatant errors in prices transmitted bets will be settled at the correct price at the time of acceptance or the Starting Price (where applicable) whichever is the greater. We also reserve the right to void any bets where there has been a blatant error in prices.

The bet in question was a Basketball side +6.5, which they said should have been +3.5.The Team lost by 4 and they said it was a loser. I did point out to no avail, that their rule was ridiculous as they could have voided it if they had won by 2.

OMT........i noticed your comment on Pinny's gambling the other day......

besides from the powers to be at Pinny...........the best person to give some insight on this question would be Walk of life..........he seems to have a pretty good grasp on how they do business................

my own opinion...........if its not hurting the bottom line........(which it doesnt seem to be doing)...........then everything is under control............

ft.knox.......tried to write a new way to book and it didnt work out to well.........will Pinny follow suit???.........imo i dont think so..........

Ted,you ask if we feel Pinny, gambles to much in the way they post there lines? I personaly DO NOT think so.This is the beauty, origanality, and POWER of Pinny.

These days more than ever,I feel we are so lucky to have a Pinny out there. They are willing to gamble on ANYTHING,at any time.Just look at there menu, you miss the NHL no problem, you can bet the Finland or Sweeden leagues.Horse matchups daily at major tracks and smaller tracks sometimes. And if you got the money you can bet 10 dimes on a horse matchup.Yes the line will change but you can keep on betting it.
Football 20,30,50 dimes-no problem.Soccer,rugby,Aussie no problem.
They put lines on literally hundreds of matchups a day. Were they wrong on the Kansas game today, absolutley, that is going to happen with any book on any given day.But they are right more often than not!
A couple months ago I played Green Bay -3 1/2 minus 08 for a large amount of money.20 minutes later it was minus 04.Thats volume and POWER.
You can beat Pinny on a single game. But can you beat Pinnacle in the sport. The sport of gambling?Very,Very, few do.Goodluck-GREENHEAD-
