Does every book just follow what Pinnacle is doing?

Whenever they open a line or move a line all the other books follow.

Pinny didn't have a line out on BOS/NYY or LAA/OAK until this morning. All the other books didn't list this game as a result until this morning who usually do overnight lines. Then once Pinny releases the line, everyone who had a line up shifts it.

For the LAA/OAK game, Pinnacle didn't put a line out until 10:16AM. As a result, these books who normally have overnight lines on games never released a line:

BetJamaica - Released at 10:22
Diamond - Released at 10:12 (changed this line at 10:27 .10)
5Dimes - Released at 10:20
Bodog - Released at 11:25
WSEX - Released at 10:29
Intertops - Released at 10:22
BetPhoenix - Released at 10:32
BetOnline - Released at 10:20
WagerStreet - Released at 10:18
ABCIslands/Jazz - Released at 10:27
Bet365 - Released at 10:27
CanBet/IASBet - Released at 10:37

That left 2 books who had released the lines before Pinnacle. Bookmaker and The Greek. These two along with BetJamaica are the only books who list baseball lines from 3:00pm-9:00pm. And once Pinnacle released their line, these two books moved their lines.

Pinnacle:
05/04 10:16AM: -104 / -104
05/04 10:22AM: -110 / +102
05/04 10:33AM: -112 / +104
05/04 10:53AM: -116 / +108

The Greek:
05/04 10:00AM: -110 / -110
05/04 10:53AM: -120 / +100

Bookmaker/CRIS:
05/04 10:13AM: -110 / -110
05/04 10:28AM: -120 / +100

I just wish there was a way to profit off this, Scalping comes to mind but you need a huge bankroll and we need something like Neteller to come back where money can be in and out of books quickly with little to no fees. It's not profitable to simply bet line moves, I've been tracking that for months.

Yes they do generally. Especially in sports such as Rugby, Aussie Rules, International Basketball/Hockey, and tennis. All professional gamblers have pinnacle as an outlet and book the majority of their action there, especially obscure sports, in which Pinnacle offers the best lines on.

remember, cris and thegreek mlb sides are 20 cent lines

that is why most of the board waits for a better barometer, like pinny, to see where the dimeline boys should be

There is more value in many 20 cent openers than there are in all the 10 cent cloned lines.

yes, sometimes there is ........... for the bettor, but not for the other dimeline books looking to just grind it out during mlb

which brings up another thing. i've never quite understood the forum guys that despise the "clone" books and push for books to have opinions. remember how some of the opinionated books ended ?? books like nab, camelot, bluegrass, etc etc . if you want opinionated lines where you are pretty sure you will get paid, especially for mlb, just bet at matchbook -- period, end of story . if you can't get down enough there and really are a true wiseguy betting mid 5+figures per game consistently, then you already know how the game works and you know you take what you can get and move on instead of whining about it in fourmsville.

These replies are interesting, got me thinking - Matchbook is a book with VERY low juice where you could bet both sides of the game based on line movements at Pinnacle, if they allow that (I don't see why they wouldn't considering they are an exchange).

Of course they'd allow it (what would they care). I think you're idea is impractical, however. I don't think you could get to MB fast enough to get the front end. Exchanges tend to move almost instantaneously while a standard book is more deliberate.

Pinnacle is a "has been" book. They assured themselves of being a second tier sportsbook once they caved in to the US Goverment and stopped taking action from US residents. They lost 2/3 of their customers when they made that stupid decision.

Why would other sportsbooks follow a place that's basically catering to five dollar parlay bettors from Canada and European sports bettors who are as square as they come?

I'm sorry, this post made me laugh.
