You inspired me to check the latest inter-conference H2H so I could post a snappy comeback.

Alas....The West is for sure still the best, with a 60-41 record vs East entering tonight's slate

Florida is a contender for the playoffs because of their defense. Very strong overall on the backend and they move the puck incredibly fast. Back to back road wins vs Ottawa and Edmonton is impressive.

If they trade Boumeester (sp) though they aren't contenders. He's a top 5 D in the league and without him it really hurts their chances, regardless of what they get back (if it's anything close to the vermette + 1 rumors I've heard it's a huge rip off).

Vokoun was touted as an elite goalie on a terrible team. Was that just talk? I sometimes wonder how much of a goalie's stats are a function of his team's defense.

Florida is pretty bad. I can't see them contending for the playoffs. I think they finish 3rd in the Southeast, 11th in the conference.

Barman - didn't mean to come across like I did - But looking in on some of those eastern games tonights....


Carolina scores four goals in the 2nd and then gives up 4 in the third and looses the game.

Montreal looses to the worst team in the league at home - Tampa was in b2b and had screwed up travel plans

the islanders give up 9 goals to team plaing their 4th game in 6 days.

the 5 worst teams in terms of wins reside in the East

Toronto - Ottawa - Florida - Tampa - Atlanta.....
