Funny I see you post on that subject... yesterday, there was a thread that talked about old threads, etc etc, so I was curious and pressed on the LAST page of this thread & saw the date of May 2003. (Of course, we all know that we are not talking about same database/servers all those years)Antonioli said:J man, can you change join date? i actually joined in Jan 2002 i think, i could dig out some posts to prove that. :thumbsup2:
Speaking of avatars, mods/anyone, why can't we view old posts with old avatars instead of having our username's current avatar being displayed? We can't see all of Gyno's old avatars that he change every week!! :Sad Face:CalvinTy said:I read some pages and saw YOUR name & your avatar (avatar is always based on current one, which sucks, I think...) so yea, no need to prove it, LOL.

Right, it does make sense, I do get the technical aspect of it. I am just wondering why the posts are designed to call up the user's current avatar in the database.... oh never mind, is it because if we allowed old posts to retain the user's avatar at that time, the posts would accumulate MUCH LARGER bandwidth (translation: the posts database would be easily 10x larger)?xpanda said:Because avatars are stored in a database and are recalled when a page is opened. The pages at the Rx's forums aren't pregenerated, they're drawn up when called upon. The filepath (a href=) is to xpandasavatar.jpg (or whatever) which itself changes each time the avatar is refreshed by the user. Does that make sense?
