Their problem is for the 3rd time this year they suffer a major letdown on the road and play like crap. They are still capable of beating anybody in the NFL when they are on. Strange because they are such a veteran team - they think they can just throw their helmets onto the field and roll and it's not the case. Have to blame part of it on coaching. The 3 games they lost they were not at all prepared to play the game - like they thought they were playing Notre Dame or something
Their main problem is their offensive line. It has gone downhill the last few years. No running lanes for Parker and not enough time for Ben. Mahan taking the place of Harting has been a major downgrade, Faneca is in the twilight of his career, Simmons and Colon are marginal at best...they need to play way better if they want to beat Ind/NE
You are dead on in your description of the offensive line.
What is now going to happen is that these corners are going to start to get exposed a little more. They really arent that good, no matter what the stats say. Brady and his gang will have a field day through the air.
As for todays game. Stupid mistakes, holding when Clemons fumbled the ball out of the end zone was the worse one. The late hit didnt come back to haunt them, although that was a marginal call. The Steelers brag about running the football at the end of games to keep the other teams offense from being on the field and today they couldnt come up with any key first downs after the 4th quarter pick and that in turn came back to haunt them.
Polamulu has been horrible all year and that is in part of the defense that they are playing. He is out of control when they allow him to roam around but in the cover 2 defense that they played against Cincy he played by far his best game of the season.
They still have a soft schedule ahead of them with games against ST. Louis, Miami and Cincy yet to come. The Patriots game will be ugly but The Pats are head and shoulders above any other team in this league. I see Pittsburgh making the playoffs and winning their home game against a wild card team. Against Indy anything can happen as was evident 2 years ago.
What it all boils down to is that this is just a charade for what will happen in the end. NOBODY is going to beat New England unless disaster strikes that team.
