I heard it's really bad in Cleveland. No electric expected for 2 more days - no running water.

Seriosly,
I hope all our Ohio posters will be ok.

I dunno Lander. We had power this morning for about 1.5 hrs and now we are scheduled for rolling blackouts for the next 2 days or so until all power is restored. My buddy in Montreal had no problems.

I saw the stars last night for the first time in a LONG time. I think everyone in my neighbourhood thought we could all sleep in as the city was ordered to stay home but at 8 am sharp some ASSHOLE is hammering away on his fvcking house across the street.

We had a bit of rash of crime last night. Anyone caught looting or BE while the city is blacked out should be executed on the spot.

Lander, if you think that Ohio is dumb, what about Mississippi? In 1959,Ross Barnett was running for governor, and they asked him what he would do about Quemoy and Matsu, two islands near China that were in the news. He replied"I think we could find a position for them on the Fish and Game Commission" This same politician, as governor, went to dedicate a synagoge, and started his speech with "My fellow Christians.......Mississippi gets my vote.

LMAO at CNN. Wolf reported that we are battling 5 major fires and there is widespread crime - unlike US cities affected by the blackout. 5 major fires? Must mean the 5 BBQs smoking away on my street.

Missouri is pretty dumb. They elected a dead guy to the Senate 3 years ago. The dead guys wife took his place as if husbands and wife’s are interchangeable career-wise.

I had never thought about it that much , but it is the only state that stars with a 0 and ends with a 0.

So nutin from nutin leaves nutin!

But on the bright side--I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance. (Does anyone else hate that ad. I will never buy Geico because of it.

I have to imagine Lander is just kidding about his comments about the stupidity in Cleveland. Anyone making such a comment about a nation would be immediately be branded as that particular nation-hater - but if it's a city, it's fair game?

Cleveland is not to blame - blame the lack of national initiatives to fix the power grid, which is admittedly third-world. Why is it? Because politicians never saw it as an important issue.

Important issue. ABC, FWIW, reported that the daily economic estimate of the impact of this outage is $30 billion per day.

But no, they are worried about gambling, worried about abortions, worried about whatever it will take to get them elected. Whose fault is that?

Ours.
