On a similar note, I was betting NFL, NHL and NBA all in one day. I hurried to get in the early NHL bet but forgot to bet the rest of my picks because I booked so many bets in the other leagues. Of course I won most of the games I would have bet on.
What's a good amount to keep in each book when arbitraging? How many books should a good arbitrager have? I'll probably be moving into this arena in the near future.
Well, the more the merrier for both. Though, you don't want to spread your bankroll too thin. Pinnacle is a must.

To be polite (shock), I held off on making a smartass post in this thread like, "If you make sure to place your bets while sober, you'll never mess up..."
AND THEN I opened my Olympic account and found a discrepancy in yesterday's closing balance.
DOH! I placed an OVER when I intended UNDER and thus I lost a 1/2 unit where I should have won.
Just today I bet Minnesota when I meant to take Green Bay. I knew it was my own fault and would have taken my lumps or doubled up on Green Bay but I took a shot and spoke with a rep via live chat. They had to get manager approval but they did flip my original bet over to Green Bay. I was even able to get the original 5 1/2 I had even though the line moved to 6 during our conversation. Very nice gesture on an honest mistake.
had it happen to me yesterday...I forgot to confirm the bet on Arizona on a SU bet....needless to say I was overjoyed....and then I looked at my account balance and I was ready to cry foul on the book I use..looked at the bet history and it didn't show up...one word of ADVICE!!!!!!!!
GO SLOW & DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTING BEFORE YOU CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS!!!
I just checked my account with Nine.com and my account total was the same as this morning. Found out when I made my "Big" bet on Washington and a smaller bet on Under never went through. I put in the wrong password. I hate their software!
I pounded Utah State against New Mexico State when I thought I found a gem. I have almost 10 books so it isn't unusual to find lines a couple of points different.
I bet Utah State at -1. Later, I found New Mex State at +3 at Hollywood so I pounded a bit more on Utah State and put about half on NMS.
Needless to say it was tied at the half. I just happened to look at scored plays and noticed that I had lost my entire bet of Utah State. It was for the first half.
At this point I didn't know what to do as I had already lost 4 units on Utah State and had about 3 units pending on NMState at +3.
I had a decent lean to Utah State for the game so I was able to bet 2 units on Utah State for the 2nd half at -2. I luckily was able to push the 3 units on NMS and win 2 units on UState for the 2nd half and only lost 2 units plus some juice.
All along I was planning on middling this game and the sad thing is it would have worked out because I had several books where I could have bet Utah State at -2 1/2 -105 and could have had NMState at +3 -107. I would have won my entire UTah State bet and pushed with the Aggies.
I haven't messed up a bet like that in ages, but came close betting a proposition a few months ago where whichever book it was had under listed on top and over listed on the bottom. Fortunately I avoided disaster by exceeding the bet limit and having it rejected for being over the limit.
