Get a Treo600 from Sprint. Much better and speed up to 144kbs. Also you can hook it up to your laptop and use it to surf the internet and gamble. That is what I use when I travel.

Go to www.treocentral.com to learn more about it.

btw, to hook it up to your laptop you need to buy a program called pdanet that costs like $30. But it works great. I travel quite a bit and the treo with sprint service has worked everywhere I go. And it works quite great and close to the 144kbs(almost 3x the speed of 56k dialup) speed they say. Also this unlimited Sprint service is only suppose to be meant to use on your treo, but some smart guys made that pdanet program so you can use it with your laptop. Just dont be outrageous and download a gig of mp3s a day and you will be fine.

I should also add, you just cant get this internet service(which is $10 or $15/month) without getting their cellphone service also on the treo(its also a cellphone/pda). I dont use sprint for my cellphone service so it goes to waste for me but you have to get it if you want to have the treo for internet service. So in total I pay $60/month to use the treo for internet while the cell phone services gets unused.. Might not be worth it to some if you dont use sprint pcs cell phone service, but if you do then its only 10 or 15 more per month to get internet to use anywhere in the US.

Treo is a better product, I will grant you that. However it costs about $500-600 compared to $200 for a Sidekick. Size of the phones are fairly close, but since the Sidekick keyboard is built in below the screen, the keyboard is much bigger and easier to use. My buddy has a Treo and I have used it on occasion, it is annoying in that you could typo quite a bit becuase the keys are so small and so close together. Also the cost of service is much more for the Treo. With a Sidekick you can get a service plan for $30 a month, a reasonable amount of minutes with Sprint on a Treo or other providers (I think one or two others offer it) will cost at least $50 because you use your minutes on other phones while data usage on the Sidekick isn't measured.

In all if you really want a Palm device and plan on using the phone a lot, then the Treo might work for you. If you want something cheaper and just mostly to surf the web and keep in touch with email then the Sidekick is a great toy and won't bust your budget.
