Was at a sportsbar for open day on Tuesday, 300 people in the bar, maybe 2 were watching the Angels home opener.

At the Tennis club tonight, 70 people in the club house, ZERO were watching the Anaheim game that was on one of the 3 TVS.

NOBODY CARES about this DYING sport, and its not like the Angels suck, we are arguabilly the best team in baseball.

I follow the Marlins religiously and have since their inception.
Other than that, most of the games bore me.
I joined a couple fantasy leagues this year to keep interest and bought the MLB Extra Innings PPV, but find myself usually not watching the games unless Florida is on.

Baseball is popular to alot here. I have a real tough time rooting for these guys after the strike fiascos where they showed no concern for those who pay them, not to mention the game is so boring.

But, as always, I am envious of those who can enjoy this game.

There are a lot of die-hard fans of "their" team...maybe more than any other sport. Probably not that many fans that want to watch games from around both leagues though.

You want to talk about a dying sport though...try hockey!

How many people at a baseball game would be watching a tennis match on tv?

Baseball has several things going against it.
1. A lot less kids are playing baseball,if you can believe it I think soccer has really hurt baseball.
2. Today, everyone wants immediate gratification, not a lot of satisfaction by winning one game out of 162.
3. A lot more things to do other then watch or listen to baseball.
4. It has gotten so expensive to go to a game it is no longer the common man's game.

I bet it and play fantasy baseball , but I enjoy watching games as a fan.
For instance tonight between periods of the Tor/Ott game I will watch the Yankees and Sox and root for everyone to get beaned.

There's no better ticket than a good pitching matchup in The Great Game.

Playoff Hockey is close.

Know I catch heat for this, but I simply don't like baseabll. Easily the most overpaid athletes in the world. What do they do? Stand in the field, maybe get 4~5 balls hit their way per game, then sit on a bench in the dugout and go up to bat 3~4 times.......

I would rather listen to a game than really watch it. I'll have the TV on in the background and catch a glance here and there, then get pissy if the wife tries to switch channels because "I'm not watching it"

Prefered methods of monitoring a baseball game:

Live at the park
Radio (in the background)
TV (in the Background)
Yahoo (lol but it is true)
Newspaper (next morning)

I will be at a few White Sox games this year (Cubs sold out for season), maybe a Tigers game too. I have the Baseball package on the Directv and watch the West coast games most every night.

My Top Ten List for Baseballs Demise...
1. Lack of parity
2. The Strike
3. Cost of attending games
4. Competition of other entertainment
5. Escalating salaries
6. Aloofness of players
7. Lack of constant action
8. 162 game season
9. Dilution of talent
10. Rosanne singing national anthem

When I was a kid, we all played ball, took fan bus to A's games with Charlie O the donkey, green balls, elephant and other marketing fiascos. But it was 10 bucks for everything. Can't get a dog and a beer for that now. Watched the A's win 3 straight and then free agency pretty much ruined the game for me. Then the strike, and crazy salaries. Fun game to play, boring as hell to watch. Lucky there is golf, bowling and soccer, to exceed the boring factor of baseball. Do not bet it, do not do fantasy, do not watch or support it, in any way shape or form. No, made a prop bet against Barry, won a quick $250. So I am batting a 1.000 in bases. Gotta get some Celts +12. Best Wishes...OF
