Does any one else think that wearing sunglasses at the WSOP should be prohibited?

I think it takes away a HUGE edge for the seasoned players.

I would be like a 3rd base coach radio-ing his signs into the runners.

Are there any such rules at all? I swear if not and I made it, I'd be wearing a ski Mask AND sunglasses, just to give myself a shot. I don't have a very good poker face.

yes. after watching the thing get won by no namers 2 years in a row both of them wearing sun glasses i have to say it would be a good idea. it wont be long before the whole field is wearing crazy looking eye wear from the 60's.

lander- That's an interesting thought. I've never played poker at the level these guys do but it seems to me that reading the other players eyes would be a big edge for the seasoned pro.

What should be banned is the "chip clickers". That has to be the most annoying habit I've ever seen in a casino.

I think the sunglasses are mostly used to spy other players closely and not sheild one's tells..

You don't need to see anyone's eye's to get a tell from them...

I say let the glasses stay....play your fawking cards....

can't be much worse then giving a player 4 or 5 minutes to play with his chips and gawk at the other player, looking for a tell to see whether or not to call his wager.....what's next, a "shot clock"????

In the tournament of champions there was a 60 second clock that lit up the table or your hand was dead...televised on the travel channel

Just a side note, but the only guy I care to watch is the Professor, Howard Lederer.

His ability to read is amazing.

Plus he doesn't wear those sissy glasses indoors.

Interesting thought Lander. I don't know.

By changing the rule, it would affect hats as well down over the eyes I think. Then a no hats rule. I think leave alone and let the cards fall where they may, but it is a nice thought provoking post.

Very good topic considering it was started by....

LANDER!!!!!

As a former Shrink, I do believe that sunglasses should be prohibited. I am quite certain that whoever invented this game didn't intend to have gamblers or recreational players wearing them!!!!

Much of the game is all about reading people and the eyes are the gateway. Why close that avenue up?

if everybody wears sunglasses, you might as well play the WSOP online. what are you going to do to read the other person? "he's bluffing, his flab always shakes when he doesnt have anything." it takes no talent to stare someone down with a pair of huge shades on.

the internet era of hold em is a bunch of rookies realizing they can get everyone to lose by going all in and staring people down with glasses on. its weak. lose the eye wear or anything else obstructing the face. its not the daily number, its poker.

the glasses should stay, the game doesnt change cause of them. the reason you have 2 "no names" winning the last 2 years is cause of the popularity of the game and being on tv all the time now, so now their are a lot more people playing.

lander if it would take a "huge edge" away from seasoned players then how come last 2 yrs , no name players walked with the prize. Dont you mean it would be an advantage to seasoned players who are more used to showing their "poker faces" rather than no names who put on mean looking glasses to boost their confidence.

Rob- There are literally hundreds of other TELLS than what just sunglasses can prevent others from noticing.
